British School of Brussels in Tervuren is seeking an independent harp teacher to deliver 30-minute lessons in a dedicated practice room with a lever harp and piano. The school provides timetable support and administrative help to schedule lessons, with sessions priced at €38.50 per 30-minute slot and payments arranged in advance for a full term.

The ideal candidate will be well qualified in music, experienced in teaching, and capable of preparing students for ABRSM or similar exams.

Qualifications

• Be well qualified in music with teaching experience, preferably with ABRSM exam prep.
• Teach beginners to advanced levels, ensuring reading music and sight reading are taught.
• Inspire and motivate students, create a positive learning environment.
• Relate well to young people and colleagues, work in a team.
• Teach the ABRSM syllabus and enter students for exams at the school.
• Play harp to a high standard with performance qualifications.
• Encourage students to join choir and perform whenever possible.

Responsabilités

We are looking for a harp teacher who would be interested in working as an independent teacher at the British School of Brussels, located in Tervuren. The British School provides free use of a practice room with a good quality lever harp and piano, as well as administrative support to timetable students’ lessons; these are timetabled throughout the day in 30-minute sessions. One 30 minute lesson costs the parents 38.50€, with a full term of lessons being payable in advance.

We are an examination centre for ABRSM as well as contemporary Rock School examinations. We also provide many opportunities for students to perform in school events and concerts throughout the year and expect support from our teachers in preparing for such events.

At this point we only have two beginner students wanting lessons, but there will be opportunities to promote your instrument to others, once the lessons begin.

The ideal candidate should:

• Be well qualified in music with plenty of experience in teaching, preferably including the preparation of students for exams in ABRSM or similar
• Be able to teach students throughout the range from beginner to high level, ensuring that all students are also taught to read music and develop good sight reading and aural skills.
• Be able to inspire and motivate students, making learning a positive and enjoyable experience.
• Be able to relate well to young people and form positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Teach the syllabus of ABRSM, entering students for examinations held at the British School.
• Play the harp to a high standard, with suitable qualifications in performance.
• Be enthusiastic and inspiring as a teacher, encourage all students to sing in the choir and take every opportunity to perform.
• Be flexible and able to be part of a team.
