Vectrus, Inc. is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to maintain, repair, and replace heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment at a Marshall Islands work site.

You will apply refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout knowledge to ensure reliable operations. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of HVAC trade training or apprenticeship, EPA 608 certification, and the ability to work independently in challenging conditions with strict safety

Qualifications

  • Must possess the technical skill to identify repair requirements as it pertains to HVAC equipment.
  • Must have expert knowledge of equipment manuals for servicing, operations and repair of HVAC systems.
  • Must be an expert in corrective actions performed by maintenance teams.
  • Must be capable of documenting and reporting inspection findings using pictures on required forms.

This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Under the supervision of the HVAC Mechanic, Lead, the HVAC Mechanic provides maintenance, repair, and replacement of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment using knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.

Responsibilities

  • Provides maintenance, repair, and replacement of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.
  • Provide other duties assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of HVAC trade school or apprenticeship/OJT
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in mechanical spaces, rooftops, and confined areas
  • Certifications:
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (Or equivalent, required)
  • OSHA 10 (Required within 90 days of hire)
  • LOTO certification (required within 90 days of hire)
  • Refrigerant handling safety training (required within 90 days of hire)
  • NCCER HVAC Level 2–3 (Preferred)
  • Manufacturer equipment training (required within 90 days of hire)
  • Skills:

  • Must be an expert in corrective actions performed by maintenance teams.
  • Must have the ability to document and report inspection findings using pictures on required forms.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent time management skills, and have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must be proficient in all phases of documentation as it pertains to servicing, maintenance, repairs, classification, etc.
  • Must have expert knowledge of equipment operations as it is critical to providing a quality inspection program.
  • Must be capable of giving and receiving instructions during the course of normal duties.
  • Must be capable of working independently with little-or-no guidance.
  • Must be willing to adapt to rapidly-changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about the ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
Physical Requirements:
  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
