IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, invites a Test Application & Automation Development Engineer to lead the development, operation, and continual improvement of the measurement infrastructure for high‑voltage device research. This dual‑focus role balances building automation for GaN test platforms with broader lab engineering across multiple R&D programs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Applied Physics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years experience with laboratory instrumentation and electronic measurement systems.
• Hands-on experience building, integrating, or maintaining test setups.
• Knowledge of semiconductor devices, power electronics, wafer-level testing, or high-voltage systems.
• Understanding of laboratory safety and engineering best practices.
• Experience with test automation and instrument communication.
• Programming experience in Python or LabVIEW.
• Willing to relocate to Belgium.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain test applications, measurement platforms, and automation solutions for high-voltage device research.
• Design and integrate hardware, instrumentation, software, and safety systems into reliable test environments.
• Improve laboratory efficiency, throughput, data quality, and user experience through automation and standardization.
• Translate experimental requirements from researchers into practical and scalable engineering solutions.
• Act as tool owner for designated test infrastructure, ensuring availability, reliability, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Support laboratory users and collaborate with researchers and software developers.
• Contribute to the roadmap of future testing and characterization capabilities.
