Job summary

HOTREC, based in Brussels, is seeking a motivated intern to join its EU advocacy team. You will gain hands-on experience in European policy-making and hospitality sector issues.

The role offers a 6-month, full-time internship with a paid arrangement under Belgian Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle, in a dynamic European environment in Brussels.

Qualifications

• A university degree is required.
• Familiarity with European politics and policies is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Monitor EU legislative proposals impacting the hospitality sector.
• Assist in developing and implementing advocacy strategies.
• Support internal and external meetings and events.
• Draft briefings and reports on meetings and events.
• Assist in managing EU-funded projects.
• Provide communications support: media monitoring, website updates, social media, presentations.

HOTREC is the leading European association representing Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Cafés, and similar establishments. We advocate for the hospitality sector in Europe, driving policy change on key issues such as digitalisation, sustainability, food, social affairs and tourism. Based in Brussels, the HOTREC secretariat brings together 47 national associations across 36 countries. Our mission is to represent the hospitality sector’s interests to the EU institutions and promote knowledge sharing and best practices among our members.

The role

We’re looking for a motivated intern to join our team and support HOTREC’s EU advocacy efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in European policy-making and hospitality sector issues.

• Communications support: media monitoring, website updates, social media, presentations

What we’re looking for

• A university degree
• Familiarity with European politics and policies
• Good understanding of the European Union and its institutions and processes
• Be enthusiastic, eager to learn, with a proactive attitude and strong attention to detail
• Good communicator, both written and oral
• Excellent level of English, knowledge of other European languages is a plus
