Job summary

Umicore Group in Olen is seeking a Head of Environment to shape and deliver the environmental strategy for the Olen site. You will lead a team of environmental specialists, ensuring compliance, sustainability, and proactive stewardship of regulatory obligations.

Reporting to the Site Director, you will partner with corporate EHS, manage permits, and advise senior management on environmental performance, expanding capabilities and guiding remediation and stakeholder communications.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Science or Environmental disciplines.
• Certified Environmental Coordinator Type A.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting and environmental technologies.
• Proven experience dealing with environmental permits and regulatory authorities.
• Experienced people leader within an industrial environment.
• Native Dutch speaker with excellent English skills.
• Strong communicator able to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the environmental vision, strategy and objectives for the Olen site.
• Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team of approximately 12 employees.
• Ensure operational excellence across emissions control, waste management and wastewater treatment.
• Partner with Corporate EHS to deploy Umicore EHS and ESG objectives at site level.
• Lead the environmental permit renewal process and act as the primary contact for regulatory authorities.
• Serve as the legally appointed Environmental Coordinator in line with Flemish legislation.
• Provide expert environmental advice to management teams and support compliance and sustainability improvements.
• Support expansion and investment projects with environmental expertise and permitting guidance.
• Lead soil and groundwater remediation projects and manage stakeholder communication.

Your Key Accountabilities
