Vivid Resourcing is assisting a fast-growing renewable energy tech scale-up in Hasselt to hire a Software Engineer. The role spans full-stack work with a focus on scalable web apps and PHP backend services.

You will collaborate with product and design teams, integrate external APIs, and contribute to architecture as the platform scales, with a clear path toward Lead Engineer and hybrid working options.

We're partnered with a fast-growing technology company in the renewable energy sector searching for a Software Engineer with strong Symfony experience to join their team in Hasselt.

This organisation's product combines software and sustainability, developing SaaS solutions that help optimise energy usage, improve efficiency, and accelerate the transition to cleaner energy systems. As a scale-up, they combine strong technical ambition with a pragmatic mindset.

You will play a key role in evolving core platform features, working across both backend and frontend components. Symfony is at the heart of the backend architecture, making this an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys building robust, scalable applications with the framework. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is motivated by the opportunity to grow into a future leadership role.

Key responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications
• Building and enhancing backend services using PHP and Symfony
• Collaborating closely with product and design teams to deliver high-quality features
• Integrating APIs and external services
• Writing clean, maintainable code and participating in code reviews
• Contributing to architectural decisions as the platform scales

Nice-to-have (strong plus)

• Experience with Laravel
• Experience with Vue.js

Your profile

• Commercial experience developing applications with Symfony is essential
• Strong PHP development experience and a solid understanding of the Symfony ecosystem
• Experience in full-stack or backend-focused software development
• Strong understanding of modern web development principles and best practices
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scale-up environment
• Proactive, solution-oriented, and eager to take ownership
• Interest in renewable energy or sustainability is a plus
