HumanInTech in Brussels is seeking a full-time, hybrid, full-stack developer to join a project migrating legacy mainframe data to a modern open architecture. You will craft web apps, REST APIs, and data-exchange services using PHP and JavaScript, shaping architecture and security alongside DevOps practices.

The role requires 3–5+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or higher, with English proficiency and French or Dutch as well.

What you will do

You will join a product division that uses agile and DevOps practices to build modern software solutions. The team is working on a programme to migrate data from legacy mainframe systems to a modern open architecture, making information more accessible to applications, analytics and data-driven decision support tools.

Your work will include:

• Developing and evolving web applications, REST APIs and web services
• Carrying out technical analysis, design and development of data exchange services
• Building application components in PHP and JavaScript
• Adapting and enriching strategic solutions with new functionality related to data analysis, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision support
• Contributing to the definition of technical architecture
• Collaborating with development teams to ensure solutions are performant, secure and interoperable

What we are looking for

Technical skills

• Confirmed experience as a full-stack developer
• Strong skills in PHP and JavaScript development
• Experience with REST APIs and web services
• Knowledge of software architecture and design principles and patterns
• Familiarity with authentication mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT-based tokens)
• Experience with containerisation
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL
• Understanding of application security and security-by-design principles
• Experience with DevOps practices and GitLab
• Junior-level experience with automated testing

Languages

• Native or fluent French or Dutch

The setting

This assignment runs from November 2026 to the end of December 2026 and is extendable.

You will work full-time in a multidisciplinary team with a mix of internal and external colleagues. The role is hybrid: you will be present at the office in Brussels at least twice a week, depending on tasks and in agreement with the team. Remote work is permitted from home or from your employer's premises in Belgium.

The team works with innovative, agile processes including Scrum, DevOps and CI/CD.
