Rhox is seeking a Senior Java Developer to lead full-stack development of business applications in a multi-system environment. You will design, implement and refine backend Java/Spring services and frontend Angular interfaces, contributing across the full software lifecycle.

Working with architects and technical leads, you will emphasize reusable components, SOA/microservices, CQRS, and robust testing with CI/CD practices in an Agile/Scrum setup.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of full-time Java development experience.
• Full-stack delivery including backend with Java/Spring and Angular frontend.
• Experience with RESTful and SOAP services in multi-system environments.
• Familiarity with SOA, microservices and CQRS patterns.
• Proficient with JPA/Hibernate and PostgreSQL relational modeling.
• Hands-on testing, TDD, and CI/CD practices.

A large organisation is progressing a business transformation programme across a portfolio of business applications. This senior Java developer role sits in a department of about 70 people that is handing over, refactoring and building applications from the ground up, using Java, Spring Framework and Angular across integrated systems. As a senior full-stack developer for business applications, you will contribute across backend and frontend development, web services, architecture, testing and deployment.

The mission

The programme covers business applications that must operate across a complex, multi-system environment. The technical landscape includes Java and Spring Framework, JPA with Hibernate and PostgreSQL, Spring Batch, REST and SOAP web services, and architectural patterns such as SOA, microservices and CQRS. Some work involves refactoring existing applications, while other work is greenfield Java application development from design through implementation. The role therefore combines analysis of existing code with the creation of new application components.

Your day-to-day scope will span the full software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements with analysts and users to design, coding, testing and release support. You will work with technical leads and senior software architects on architecture components and reusable building blocks, while taking ownership of implementation. The department works with Agile/Scrum practices, JIRA/Confluence and continuous integration through tools such as Maven and Jenkins. You will also contribute to technical documentation, evaluation and reporting, and help less experienced developers when needed.

Your responsibilities

• Deliver and maintain Java/Spring business applications, including Angular interfaces, in line with business and architectural requirements.
• Build and integrate REST and SOAP web services and application components across multi-system environments.
• Refactor existing code and develop greenfield components using JPA with Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Spring Batch and CQRS where appropriate.
• Improve release quality by applying JUnit-based testing, Mockito, Spring Security and continuous integration throughout the lifecycle.
• Shape architecture components and reusable building blocks with technical leads and senior software architects.
• Coordinate technical delivery in Scrum activities, maintain JIRA/Confluence documentation, support deployment and supervise junior developers when required.

Your profile

Essential skills

• Bring 5-7 years of full-time professional Java development experience, including full-stack delivery of business applications.
• Develop backend services with Java, Spring Framework, JPA and Hibernate, and frontend applications with Angular.
• Design and consume RESTful and SOAP web services, and apply SOA, microservices and CQRS patterns in integrated environments.
• Work with Spring Batch, Maven, Jenkins and PostgreSQL, and understand relational data models and object-relational mapping.
• Apply Agile/Scrum, test-driven development and continuous integration, using JUnit and related test practices.
• Read and contribute to UML, BPMN and technical documentation, while managing delivery information in JIRA/Confluence.
• Analyse unfamiliar or existing code quickly, communicate with analysts and users, and collaborate effectively with architects and developers.
• Support and supervise junior developers while contributing constructively to an established team.

Languages

• French or Dutch: CEFR B2 or above in at least one of these languages, including spoken communication and technical documentation.
• English: CEFR B2 or above for written communication and collaboration within the development team.
