Mediahuis is seeking a Freelance Golang Developer to design, develop and maintain backend services and microservices in Go within an event-driven platform. You will work on the AI solutions platform, ensuring reliability, security and scalability across Mediahuis.

You’ll collaborate with platform engineers, architects and product owners in an international, hybrid setup with at least one day per week in Antwerp or Amsterdam offices.

Qualifications

• At least five years of software development experience.
• Strong focus on Go (Golang) and backend API design.
• Experience with distributed, event-driven architectures and NATS.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform and Azure.
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews.

As a Freelance Golang Developer, you'll help build the platform powering the next generation of AI solutions at Mediahuis. While application teams develop intelligent AI agents and business logic, you ensure the underlying platform is reliable, secure, scalable and cost-efficient. Your work will have a direct impact on how AI solutions are developed, deployed and operated across the organization.

Your role includes.

• You design, develop and maintain backend services and microservices in Go (Golang);
• You build and continuously improve the services that power our AI Platform;
• You work within an event-driven architecture, with NATS as a key messaging component;
• You translate functional and technical requirements into robust and scalable solutions;
• You contribute to architectural decisions and help continuously improve our engineering standards;
• You safeguard code quality through automated testing, code reviews and development best practices;
• You improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation;
• You collaborate closely with platform engineers, software developers, architects, product owners and other stakeholders.

You understand what it takes to create reliable, secure, scalable and maintainable platforms, and you're driven by solving complex technical challenges. You take ownership of your work actively contribute to architectural discussions and continuously look for ways to improve both the platform and the engineering practices around it.

You have at least five years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on Go (Golang), and you're comfortable designing backend APIs, building microservices and working with distributed, event-driven architectures. Experience with NATS, Kubernetes, Docker, Azure and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform will help you hit the ground running. You're familiar with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews and scripting (Bash/Shell), and you communicate fluently in English with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You'll join TPS, the international technology organization of Mediahuis. Within the AI Solutions Platform team, we're building the foundation that enables development teams across Mediahuis to create, deploy and operate AI solutions in a secure, scalable and efficient way.

You'll work alongside experienced software engineers, platform engineers, architects and product owners in an international environment where collaboration, knowledge sharing and engineering excellence are key. Together, you'll shape one of the strategic technology platforms supporting AI innovation across Mediahuis. Your home base can be Antwerp or Amsterdam. We work according to a hybrid model with at least 1 day a week presence required in the Antwerp office.
