Job description

Scope

EVS, a leader in live video technology for broadcast and media productions, is looking for an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to join its Hardware Engineering team in Liège, Belgium.

You will contribute to the development of high-performance FPGA-based platforms used in demanding live production environments. Working closely with FPGA, hardware, embedded software, application software and validation engineers, you will help turn system requirements into reliable, production-ready designs.

This position is intended for a medior or senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and wants to contribute across the full FPGA development lifecycle. The role is based in Liège and follows a hybrid working model, with up to two homeworking days per week. It is not available as an exclusively remote position.

Job Description

Design, implement and verify high-performance FPGA functions for professional live video products and platforms.

  • Translate system and product requirements into FPGA architectures, detailed designs and reusable RTL components.
  • Develop primarily in Verilog/SystemVerilog; strong VHDL experience is also welcome.
  • Own the complete development flow: RTL design, simulation, synthesis, place and route, timing closure, on-target validation and hardware debugging.
  • Integrate and optimize high-speed interfaces or processing pipelines involving at least one of the following: DDR memory, PCI Express, high-speed Ethernet, video processing or video codecs.
  • Contribute to design reviews, verification strategies, technical documentation and continuous improvement of development methods and tools.
  • Work within multidisciplinary project teams alongside system architects, PCB designers, embedded software, application software and quality engineers.
  • Support system bring-up, investigate complex issues spanning FPGA, board and software boundaries, and contribute to robust production releases.
  • Depending on experience, provide technical guidance and practical support to less experienced engineers.
Profile

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • At least 5 years of proven experience in FPGA design and development for high-speed or data-intensive systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Verilog/SystemVerilog or VHDL, including simulation, synthesis, optimization, timing closure and on-hardware validation.
  • Proven knowledge of at least one of the following technologies: DDR memory interfaces, PCI Express, high-speed Ethernet, video processing or video codecs.
  • Experience with FPGA development toolchains, preferably AMD/Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
  • Comfortable using simulation and debugging tools, version control and scripting languages such as Python, Tcl or shell.
  • Ability to understand system-level interactions between FPGA logic, hardware and software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic and quality-driven approach.
  • Able to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required. French is desirable.
  • Willing and able to work regularly from our Liège office. Hybrid working of up to two days per week is possible; fully remote working is not available.
  • Aligned with EVS values: Innovation, Passion, Ambition, Agility, Accountability, Teamwork and Customer Success.
