Zymofix is a dynamic scale-up advancing sustainable, circular agriculture. We seek a Facility Manager with industrial maintenance skills to join our Engineering team and become the first point of contact for the building.

You will oversee defects, installations, and technical issues, and eventually lead the maintenance team for civil and production assets. You will coordinate relocation to the new site, manage building and asset upkeep, implement security, and co-create the demo plant for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Facility Management or Construction/Building Technology with track record in building and industrial equipment maintenance is a plus.
• Strong technical aptitude and hands-on approach to solving technical challenges; industrial process equipment know-how is a plus.
• Experience managing contractors and third parties across trades (HVAC, electrical, cleaning, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to stakeholders.
• Structured working style with high internal quality standards.
• Fluency in English; Dutch a plus.

Zymofix is planning the construction of an industrial‑scale demonstration plant in 2027.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Facility Manager with industrial maintenance skills to join our Engineering team. You will be the first point of contact for the building — covering defects, installations, and technical issues — and, as the role grows, you will take on the position of Head of Maintenance for both civil and industrial production assets, building out the facility team over time through new internal hires or external partnerships. You will be responsible for:

• Relocation management: Help prepare, lead, and coordinate the relocation and expansion of current operational activities to the new site.
• Building and asset management: Make sure the entire building (7,000m² production and office area, plus outside area) remains in good condition; plan and execute preventive maintenance of civil and production assets, and act as the first contact person for technical issues.
• Security: Implement access control, fire detection and suppression, and burglary and alarm systems to create a secure workplace.
• Demo industrial plant construction: Co-prepare and guide the construction of the new demo industrial facility for micro‑organism production, working in close collaboration with the project engineer to coordinate all building‑related construction works — arranging site access, staying informed on progress, safeguarding safety, and communicating with external partners such as welders, electricians etc. when they come to install equipment.
• Stakeholder & partner management: Collaborate closely with external partners, internal and external engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth project operations and alignment; keep internal and external stakeholders informed and closely coordinate with production on maintenance planning, including pest prevention.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Facility Management or Construction/Building Technology (e.g. industrial engineering). Experience with a proven track record in building and industrial equipment maintenance is a plus, as well as a master's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Strong technical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and a hands‑on approach to solving technical challenges, ideally combined with industrial process equipment know‑how (utilities, pressure equipment, lab facilities, electrical equipment, etc.).
• Experience managing contractors and other third parties, with a good understanding of the different trades involved (e.g. welders, masons, concrete workers); an established network of maintenance and trade contacts (HVAC, sanitary, electrical, cleaning services, etc.) is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to report to different stakeholders.
• A structured way of working and a high internal quality standard.
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written; fluency in Dutch is a plus.
