Community Consulting seeks an experienced F5 Networking and Security Engineer to support a major European energy infrastructure operator’s Datacom and IP Networks environment. F5 BIG-IP is central to the data centre infrastructure, enabling load balancing, security and application delivery services.

You will design, implement, operate, optimise and manage complex F5 BIG-IP environments, contributing to lifecycle management and knowledge transfer across teams.

A major European energy infrastructure operator is looking for an experienced F5 Networking and Security Engineer to support its Datacom and IP Networks environment. F5 BIG-IP is a central component of the organisation’s data centre infrastructure and supports application load balancing, high availability, security and application delivery services. The consultant will contribute to the design, implementation, operation, optimisation and lifecycle management of complex F5 BIG-IP environments supporting business-critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design load balancing and high-availability architectures.
• Design and implement F5 BIG-IP solutions for application delivery and network traffic management.
• Configure and administer virtual servers, pools, nodes and health monitors.
• Develop and maintain iRules, SSL profiles and traffic policies.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates, SSL offloading and encryption configurations.
• Perform traffic inspection and reporting.
• Deploy and manage Web Application Firewall policies using F5 AWAF, depending on project requirements.
• Integrate authentication and access management services using F5 APM and enterprise identity services.
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning and service optimisation.
• Support incident, problem and change management activities.
• Perform security patching and software upgrades.
• Manage the lifecycle of the F5 infrastructure.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of application delivery, connectivity and performance issues.
• Produce technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Transfer technical knowledge to relevant stakeholders.

Must have

• Advanced knowledge of F5 BIG-IP solutions.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing F5 solutions in complex environments.
• In-depth conceptual, practical and operational knowledge of IP Networks.
• Experience managing networks in multi-site and data centre environments.
• Strong understanding of application delivery, load balancing and high-availability concepts.
• Ability to work independently and methodically.
• Strong sense of responsibility and ability to assess operational risks.
• Customer-oriented mindset and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Flexibility to respond to urgent operational incidents.
• Strong communication skills with colleagues, departments, suppliers and service providers.
• Ability to speak, read and write Dutch, French and English.
• For non-EU candidates working in Belgium: valid Belgian work authorisation and residence permit.

Should have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, ICT, Telecommunications or equivalent technical experience.
• Broad knowledge of IT security concepts, architectures and implementations.
• Experience working with enterprise firewall technologies such as Check Point and Palo Alto.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Willingness to continuously develop and broaden technical expertise.

Nice to have

• Experience with F5 AWAF.
• Experience with F5 APM.
• Experience with enterprise identity service integrations.
• Knowledge of SSL offloading and advanced TLS configurations.
• Experience working in critical infrastructure environments.
• Knowledge of IP/MPLS, DWDM, SDH or telecommunications transport networks.
