Job summary

Médiane Benelux is seeking an Expert Test Engineer to join a small Agile team focused on ETCS, the European Train Control System. This long-term assignment suits a professional experienced in manual and automated testing within safety-critical environments.

You will define test strategy, design tests, and set up automated suites (Selenium, ReadyAPI/SOAP-UI, Ranorex), while ensuring compliance with quality, signalling, and cybersecurity standards in collaboration with developers and analysts.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in manual testing.
• 5+ years of experience in test automation.
• ISTQB certification.
• Solid experience with Jira and Xray (min 5 years).
• Experience with ReadyAPI or SOAP-UI (min 2 years).
• Experience with Selenium (min 2 years).
• Experience with Ranorex.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum (min 5 years).
• Experience with GitLab and Jenkins (min 2 years).
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar standards.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain test strategy (manual and automated) for ETCS-related applications.

Job Description

Our client, a company operating in the railway signalling and safety-critical systems sector, is seeking an Expert Test Engineer to join a small Agile team focused on ETCS (European Train Control System) applications. This is a long-term assignment ideal for a professional experienced in both manual and automated testing in highly regulated, safety-critical environments.

Context

You will join a cross-functional Agile team including developers, analysts, and business analysts, working on Java-based signalling applications.

You act as the testing reference for a safety-critical environment subject to strict quality, signalling, and cybersecurity standards (ISO 9001, EN50.128, ISO 27001, NIS).

Main Responsibilities

• Define and maintain test strategy (manual and automated) for ETCS-related applications
• Design, execute, and document functional, integration, and regression tests
• Set up and maintain automated test suites using Selenium, ReadyAPI/SOAP-UI, Ranorex
• Configure and use Jira, Xray, GitLab, Jenkins for test management, traceability, and CI/CD integration
• Ensure test coverage and compliance with applicable quality, signalling, and cybersecurity standards
• Contribute to user acceptance tests (UAT) and support business teams during UAT phases
• Report defects clearly, investigate root causes, and follow up with developers and analysts
• Produce clear, complete, audit-proof test documentation
• Actively contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices within the Agile/Scrum team

Profile / Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in manual testing
• 5+ years of experience in test automation
• ISTQB certification
• Solid experience with Jira and Xray (minimum 5 years)
• Experience with ReadyAPI or SOAP-UI (minimum 2 years)
• Experience with Selenium (minimum 2 years)
• Experience with Ranorex
• Experience with Agile/Scrum ways of working (minimum 5 years)
• Experience with GitLab and Jenkins (minimum 2 years)
• Knowledge of at least one relevant standard: ISO 9001, EN50.128
• Strong interest in cybersecurity principles and ICT standards
• Ability to work autonomously and proactively on complex, business-critical projects

Language Requirements

• French or Dutch: C1 (fluent in communication with local teams)
• English: B2 (comfortable in technical discussions and documentation)
