Description du poste

We turn insight into impact. Whether a client is facing a communications challenge or has a policy goal, our exceptional team uses our understanding of politics, public opinion and the press to create campaigns that work. We have a relentless focus on achieving great results for our clients.

The role

Founded in 2016, Hanbury continues to focus on delivering client excellence and growing our business. We are looking to bring on board a driven Director to help grow our expanding Brussels client roster and service existing public affairs accounts. This is a dual role: you will be expected to provide high-level strategic advice to clients while actively participating in the firm’s day-to-day management and meeting business objectives.

This Director will have a strong network within the Brussels institutions to provide clients with sound engagement advice and counsel on the latest developments. Strong knowledge of digital and technology policy is an advantage, but you’ll have the ability and the expectation put on you to grow into new focus areas in line with the ever evolving political agenda. This is a senior role in our team (you’re likely to have seven years plus experience), and you will serve as a member of the Brussels leadership team. That also means making decisions on the day-to-day running of our company. As such, you have an entrepreneurial mindset and have experience in pursuing business development to grow our workbook.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic advisory – Capable of providing strategic advice to clients to progress their regulatory and policy agendas in Brussels.
  • Business development – Experience in pursuing new business opportunities, including drafting new business proposals and pitches.
  • Build and maintain a network – Building and maintaining a strong network and leveraging relationships with the European Commission, Parliament and Council. Engaging with (prospective) clients, helping to raise the profile of Hanbury in Brussels and beyond.
  • Team leadership – Management and team leadership experience, including coaching and training junior colleagues, reviewing work and providing feedback, delegating effectively, and supporting personal development.
  • Operational excellence – Being a consistent champion of excellence, leading by example within your team and across the whole firm.
  • Driver of positive culture – Taking time to invest in the culture of our business and celebrate team successes.
About you
  • Brussels expertise – Comfortable and experienced in the Brussels political landscape.
  • Possess sectoral knowledge – Experience in digital and technology regulation is considered an advantage, but you’ll have the opportunity to grow into new focus areas in line with the ever evolving political agenda.
  • Strong drafting skills – An excellent communicator with good drafting skills in English and one other European language.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – Interested in leading and getting involved in business development, motivated by the opportunity to help shape and grow our Brussels offer.
  • Team leader – Demonstrable experience leading teams.
  • Flexible and collaborative in your approach – Dedicated to producing high quality work and going the extra mile for colleagues and clients.
  • Personable, respectful, and a team player capable of working with people with a diverse range of backgrounds and opinions.
  • Excited to be part of a dynamic, driven team, advising clients from a range of industries.
  • Be willing to do occasional business travel to London and other European capitals.
  • 26 days’ paid leave plus bank holidays and time off over Christmas.
  • Normal working hours are 9am – 6pm.
  • Operate a hybrid working policy – up to 4 weeks per year.
  • Group assurance (pension) employer contribution.
  • Eligible for the company’s 2026 CCT90 bonus scheme.
  • Monizze Lunch Vouchers, Eco Vouchers and a monthly travel allowance.
  • Health insurance policy.
  • Work From Abroad policy for up to 4 weeks a year.
  • You will be based in Brussels, but asked to travel as necessary to London or other parts of Europe.
