IETA seeks an EU Policy Officer to join our Brussels team, reporting to the EU Policy Director. The role focuses on tracking EU climate policy, carbon market developments, and engaging with policy makers across Brussels and national capitals.

• Flexible with high autonomy in a small team.
• Excellent spoken and written English; knowledge of German or French is a plus.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.

Responsabilités

• Track EU climate policy and carbon market developments (EU ETS and CBAM).
• Provide regular briefings and policy updates to IETA members.
• Develop policy positions and advocacy with membership.
• Organise IETA EU Working Group meetings (virtual and in-person).
• Engage with policy makers in Brussels and national capitals.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and represent IETA at conferences.
• Collaborate with IETA teams on research, communications, and stakeholder consultations.

EU Policy Officer

Reporting to the IETA EU Policy Director and based at its Brussels office, this position (offers you the opportunity to contribute to a highly respected and impactful multi-sector member organisation.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Track relevant EU climate policy and carbon market developments, with a particular focus on the EU ETS and EU CBAM.
• Monitor developments that may have an impact on the functioning ofEU’scarbon market.
• Provideregular briefingsand policy updates to IETA members.
• In collaboration with IETA’s membership, develop policy positions and advocacy initiatives.
• This role has an international dimension. You will collaborate, support and work with other IETA WG’s and Geo locations.
• Engage in dialoguewith policy makers in Brusselsand national capitals.
• Organiseandfacilitate IETA’s EU WorkingGroupvirtual and in-person meetings.
• Build andmaintainrelationshipswith relevant stakeholders.
• Help build Membership pipeline.
• Represent IETA in conferences and meetings.
• Attend and report on debates, conferences,seminarsand hearings.
• Help identify and build potential new Members.
• Help toorganiserelevant IETA events, both virtual and in-person, in Brussels and other EU capitals.
• Respond to queries and requests from IETA Members.
• Collaborate with other IETA team memberson research, analysis, communications, businessnetworkingand stakeholder consultations, particularly where EU policy and market matters are being considered.
• CommunicateIETA’s viewsacross relevant EU institutions.

Competences and Experience Required:

• A comprehensive understanding of EU climate policy and carbon market frameworks, and overall EU political landscape.
• Strong knowledge of EU institutions and EU legislativeprocess.
• Preferably an established network in Brussels.
• Ability to write clearly for different audiences and speak at external events.
• Excellent policy analysis.
• Preferably previous experience in industry/membership associations
• Ability to work flexibly and withhigh levelsof autonomy, as part of a small team.
• Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of other EU languages (German, French) is an advantage.
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• Quick starter.

Preferred but not essential:

• Experience working for a Not-for-ProfitOrganisation.
• Knowledge of energy/emissions trading markets.

Place of Work:

The IETA Brussels Office and frequent meetings throughout Brussels city. Occasional travel to major European cities,and further afield when necessary. Other locations can be considered provided a reasonable train access to Brussel. Work from your home office when practical.
