Exyte in Belgium seeks an Engineering & Design Manager to lead engineering and design activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring safe, compliant and commercially effective solutions. You will act as the primary engineering representative to the client and drive governance, risk management and continuous improvement in highly regulated pharmaceutical environments.

The role requires 10+ years of multidisciplinary delivery experience and fluency in Dutch & English.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition preferred.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in engineering, design, construction, commissioning and multidisciplinary project delivery within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences or other highly regulated industries.
• Demonstrated experience delivering multidisciplinary capital projects from design through commissioning.
• Proven experience managing engineering execution through all project phases, including concept design, detailed design, construction management, commissioning and handover.
• Broad multidisciplinary engineering knowledge with the ability to challenge, guide and integrate inputs from specialist engineering disciplines.
• Strong organisational and people leadership skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate and deliver under demanding project schedules.
• Sound commercial awareness, including programme management, cost control, resource planning, procurement strategies, contract administration and risk management.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to establish credibility and build long-term client relationships.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
• Experience managing external consultants, contractors and engineering service providers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a proactive approach to decision making.
• Committed to engineering excellence, continuous improvement and innovation.
• Fluent in Dutch & English.

Responsabilités

• Provide end-to-end leadership and technical accountability for project delivery in accordance with Project and Engineering Execution Plans, ensuring alignment with commercial, schedule, quality, regulatory and HSE objectives.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, discipline leads, external partners and contractors to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery across all phases.
• Act as the senior Engineering & Design authority and primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders, managing expectations, providing strategic guidance and supporting major project decisions.
• Drive safe, predictable and efficient project execution by ensuring engineering solutions fully satisfy client requirements, regulatory expectations and business objectives.
• Establish and maintain robust engineering governance processes, including design reviews, technical risk assessments, change control, quality assurance and design verification activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable GMP regulations, industry standards, corporate requirements and client-specific engineering standards.
• Lead design assurance activities and ensure all engineering deliverables meet contractual and project requirements.
• Oversee project progress, resource planning, cost control and forecasting, delivering clear and concise reporting to project leadership and clients.
• Identify, assess and manage technical and project risks, developing mitigation strategies to support successful project outcomes.
• Manage tendering and procurement activities, including technical bid evaluations, scope reviews and supplier selection processes.
• Lead construction management and commissioning and support qualification activities, ensuring engineering continuity throughout the project lifecycle.
• Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, standardisation and implementation of engineering best practices.
• Support business development initiatives through technical input, proposal reviews, client presentations and strategic project pursuits where required.

As a key member of the Project Leadership Team, the Engineering & Design Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of all engineering and design activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through commissioning and handover.
