Overview

Energy, Environment & Transport Reporter — Full Time

Editorial & Research — Brussels, Belgium — Position closing date: October 19, 2025

Reporting to: Energy, Environment & Transport Editor

Responsibilities
  • Write breaking news stories, interviews, as well as in-depth feature articles and analytical pieces
  • Contribute to Voltage, a daily energy, transport and environment newsletter that goes out each morning to policy professionals, as part of a team
  • Conduct interviews with high-level officials, business leaders and policy experts
  • Identify stories at the intersection of policy and politics, putting often complex issues into simple language for a professional audience and a more general one
  • Contribute to meeting Euractiv’s editorial mission and commitment to balanced reporting
  • Attendance in the Euractiv Brussels office is required, with occasional travel also necessary
Qualifications
  • At least five years of journalism experience
  • A track record of delivering exclusive news and scoops, along with sharp analysis
  • Experience covering EU energy, environment and transport policies
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • The ability to produce concise, accurate news reports to tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with lesser covered Eastern European countries an asset
What we offer

This is a full-time employment contract under Belgian law (contrat à durée indéterminée), with salary and responsibilities commensurate to the candidate’s level of experience.
