AniCura Plantijn & AniCura Randstad is seeking a dedicated leader to head its Emergency Clinic and contribute to teaching the next generation of emergency veterinarians and nurses. The role blends clinical time with teaching across two connected clinics in Berchem and Borsbeek, with hybrid scheduling and a strong focus on quality and teamwork.

The candidate will drive guidelines, uplift medical quality, and mentor interns, with a preference for European Specialists in Emergency and Critical Care

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of clinical emergency experience.
• European Veterinary Specialists in Emergency and Critical Care preferred.
• Lead and coordinate emergency clinic operations.
• Teach and train veterinary staff and interns.

AniCura Dierenartsenpraktijk Plantijn is a growing emergency and referral center in Berchem, available 24/7. Anicura Dierenkliniek Randstad is a top referral center in Borsbeek, providing a well-established veterinary internship program for over a decade.

Patients are referred to our clinic for advanced diagnostic imaging services, including ultrasound, radiography, endoscopy, and CT scanning, as well as for surgery, minimally invasive procedures, cardiology, orthopaedics, dentistry, dermatology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and oncology. We provide round-clock emergency care for cases ranging from minor emergencies to complex critical conditions. In addition, our clinic offers comprehensive hospitalization and intensive care facilities.

Who are we looking for?

AniCura Dierenartsenpraktijk Plantijn and Dierenkliniek Randstad are seeking a veterinarian who can take ownership of several key focus areas and bring them together effectively:

• Day-to-day leadership of the Emergency Clinic, including developing guidelines to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Continued education and elevation of medical quality
• Teaching, inspiring, and challenging the next generation of emergency vets and nurses
• European Veterinary Specialists in Emergency and Critical Care preferred - minimum of 2 years clinical emergency experience required

Key responsibilities

This is a hybrid role with a partial split between two clinics. Your role will be a blend of clinical time and teaching, primarily including:

• Acting as one of the main points of contact for emergency veterinary nurses, veterinarians, surgeons, and vet interns.
• Regularly reviewing hospitalized and emergency patients together with the treating vet
• Organizing a quarterly face-to-face meeting for the entire emergency team, in partnership with the Clinic Manager
• Maintaining a regular presence in the clinic during weekend and/or night shifts to ensure questions and concerns can be addressed promptly
• Actively working as an Emergency Veterinarian
• Periodically on-call to provide coaching and support to vets navigating complicated emergency cases
• Partnering with other hospital leadership and Talent Acquisition Partner to participate in job interviews relevant to the emergency department
• Refining existing emergency protocols, and developing new procedures as needed
• Ensuring that emergency protocols are translated into training programs and helping to facilitate these trainings
• Partnership with hospital leadership in reviewing patient safety reports and enacting needed protocol or procedural changes
• Critical evaluation of veterinary intern skills and theoretical competencies
• Reviewing reports sent to referring veterinarians and maintaining strong relationships with the referring veterinary network
