Description du poste

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronic Packaging Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have profound expertise in electronic packaging technologies , with a strong focus on micro-fabrication manufacturing processes and mechanical design . You will play a key role in developing new packaging solutions for microfluidic sensor applications, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in design, process engineering and life science application experts.

What you will do

  • Design and implement mechanical, electrical and microfluidic components for the integration of sensor chips. Follow the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) approach.
  • Select, test and validate manufacturing routes for customized components at our in-house lab facilities as well at external suppliers (for low volume production). Execute manufacturing steps for internal prototyping.
  • Innovate at the level of chip integration methods that strengthens imec\'s sensor portfolio with different integration requirements from various application levels. Pitch new proposals both internally and externally.
  • Identify, propose, and concretize new project ideas aligned with strategic goals and technological roadmaps.
  • Follow a structured approach to derive and monitor requirements of individual functional components as well as at system-level. Interact w/ all stakeholders to agree on a commonly supported decision. Document design decisions, test results and learnings.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in electronic packaging.
  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of electronic design engineers, process integration engineers and application experts including life-science researchers.

Who you are

  • Master\'s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronic packaging, preferably in a high-tech or semiconductor environment.
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical CAD design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
  • Hands-on experience and strong motivation to work with micro-fabrication methods, packaging manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • You have strong analytical skills and can perform data processing using analytical or computational tools. You have excellent communication and reporting skills to summarize your results, indicating both successful and failing parts; showing a fair self-insight.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team w/ opposing opinions.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
