This client is a global materials technology company and a leading player in its field. We are a stable international group with a strong Belgian identity, operating from four sites across the country. Our core business is the development of technologies and the production of materials for high-performance solar cells used in satellites, rechargeable batteries, LED applications, and catalysts. Through our recycling activities, we recover valuable metals from devices such as laptops and mobile phones.

Department Overview & Responsibilities

The Precious Metals Refining (PMR) department develops solutions based on base and precious metals. At our Hoboken site, we are making significant investments to adapt to evolving processes and regulatory requirements.

Our Technology department, driven by a team of enthusiastic professionals, plays a key role in these developments. We support various production departments with technical expertise and manage the full lifecycle of projects—from feasibility studies and design to implementation and commissioning.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer within the Technology Department – Shutdown Projects Team, you will be responsible for the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) discipline within project teams. You will take full end-to-end ownership of the electrical infrastructure for new installations or modifications during planned shutdowns. You will work independently, supported by the project team, internal departments, and external suppliers. Projects will be assigned based on your expertise and background to ensure the best fit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implementation of electrical installations.
  • Incorporate input from all stakeholders during the design phase.
  • Manage external engineering firms for detailed design work.
  • Conduct technical discussions with suppliers, including drafting technical specifications, managing RFQs, placing orders, and monitoring deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to develop cost estimates and project schedules.
  • Supervise on-site execution of works.
  • Monitor project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Actively contribute to the selection and implementation of safety systems and review functional descriptions.
  • Lead pre-commissioning activities and support functional testing during commissioning.
  • Provide general electrical support during the execution phase of shutdowns, including troubleshooting.
Technical Profile Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer.
  • Strong background in maintenance of industrial electrical installations is a significant advantage. Experience in an industrial environment is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of electricity, electrical networks, instrumentation, PLC control systems, power electronics, industrial communication networks, and PL/SIL.
  • Proven experience with end-to-end responsibility for electrical installations.
  • Proficiency in cable calculations; knowledge of Caneco is a plus.
  • Experience with electrical CAD software is an asset.
  • Good command of Dutch is required.
Non-Technical Profile Requirements
  • Proficient in MS Office tools.
  • Able to work independently and set priorities effectively.
  • Assertive, communicative, and results-oriented.
  • Hands-on and proactive mindset.
Education & Certifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electromechanics, or equivalent through experience.
  • VCA certification required.
Language Requirements
  • Fluent in Dutch.
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written).
Location

100% on-site presence required in Hoboken, Belgium.

Contract Details
  • Start date: As soon as possible, no later than early January 2026.
