POSITION SUMMARY:

The Metal Fabricator Lead ensures safe and efficient production of sign fabrication. This role has a strong understanding of metalworking techniques and the equipment along with the ability to lead a team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures safe construction of metal items using the following tools and machinery: band saw, Pirana multi-tool, welders, pneumatic and mechanical saws, plasma cutters, brake, torches and other miscellaneous metalworking tools and equipment.
• Provides instruction to metalworkers on proper procedures for metalworking, including lighting and metal design signatures of Bass Pro Shops.
• Maintains working knowledge of safe and proper procedures of metalworking in accordance with local, state and OSHA requirements.
• Maintains and updates inventory of steel and aluminum and delivers information for re-ordering to Shop Foreman.
• Notifies Shop Foreman of any issue that will prevent our schedule or quality standard from being met.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Years of experience: 5 or more experience in Sign Fabrication

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Verify all the Fabricators are completely and accurately filling out timesheets and material charge-out forms daily.
• Develop templates, forms and jigs for accurate and quick production of metal items.
• Ability to delegate work to Fabricators with the correct project name and work order numbers.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly walks, stands, and lifts up to 50 lbs. Occasionally sits, and does computer work.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
