ScioTeq Ltd in Belgium seeks a Display Engineer Avionics to own optical subsystems from concept to production. You will design, simulate, test, and validate optics for LCD and backlight displays, supporting manufacturing and addressing obsolescence as part of an R&D team.

You bring a master's in optics or applied physics, hands-on testing experience, and fluency in English. The role emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration and delivering reliable, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering (optics or applied physics) or equivalent by experience.
• Experience with optics in display technology / LED / light systems.
• Knowledge of colorimetry and photometry is a plus.
• Affinity with mechanics, electronics, software, firmware, procurement.
• Hands-on testing and validation mindset.
• Fluent in English.
• Familiar with Matlab- and Eldim UMaster.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and industrialize optical solutions for display applications, ensuring quality, performance, and cost targets.
• Define specifications and concepts for optical subsystems (LCD, backlight, LED, etc.).
• Design, simulate, and implement optical solutions.
• Test, debug, and validate system performance (colorimetry, photometry).
• Work in a hands-on lab/darkroom environment.
• Contribute to developments in LCD and backlight technologies.
• Conduct optics studies, research, and characterization.
• Translate emerging technologies into practical product solutions.
• Support and improve existing products.
• Manage obsolescence challenges.
• Ensure reliable and cost-effective solutions throughout the lifecycle.
• Transfer designs to production.
• Support manufacturing and resolve technical issues.
• Work in line with development processes and design best practices.
• Act as the technical owner of your subsystem.
• Collaborate with project managers, customers and international suppliers for technical discussions and alignment.
• Be an active contributor within the R&D development team.
• Report to the R&D manager.

Do you want to contribute to cutting-edge avionics display solutions and apply your optics expertise to real-world products?
In this role as Display Engineer Avionics, you will take end-to-end ownership of optical subsystems within innovative display projects from concept to production.

Your responsibilities

• You design, develop, and industrialize optical solutions for display applications, ensuring quality, performance, and cost targets are met.

Your profile

• You hold a master’s degree in Engineering, in optics or applied physics or equivalent by experience.

• You have experience with optics in display technology / LED / light systems.

• Knowledge of colorimetry, photometry, light behavior is a nice plus.

• You have affinity with other disciplines (mechanics, electronics, software, firmware, procurement, …).

• You have hands-on experience with testing and validation and have a hands-on mindset. You enjoy building and testing yourself.

• You are familiar with tools such as Matlab- and Eldim UMaster.

• You have a high level of intellectual affectivity and flexibility.

• You have analytical skills.

• You have problem solving skills.

• You are fluent in English.
