Job summary

European Defence Agency in Brussels seeks a Head of Unit Air & Space to lead capability planning and armament development for the Air & Space domains. You will manage delivery of strategic objectives, coordinate with EU institutions, Member States, NATO and industry, and steer cross‑directorate collaboration within CAP.

The role requires extensive military experience, senior leadership, and stakeholder engagement at the highest levels.

Qualifications

University degree in defence studies, military sciences, air & space engineering.
Minimum of 15 years in the Air or Space domain in a military environment after qualification.
Minimum of 10 years in military capability planning / development and/or armament programmes.
Experience in international relations and international defence organisations.
Leadership in managerial positions with strategic planning and delivery of complex programmes.
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Lead the Head of Unit Air & Space, directing capability planning and armament acquisition in Air and Space domains.
Coordinate with Member States, EEAS, EC, EUMS, NATO and other bodies.
Ensure strategic direction, resource planning and cross-domain coordination within CAP.
Represent the Agency at senior-level meetings and external fora.
Oversee collaboration, project arrangements and joint procurement initiatives.
