UCB is seeking a Digital Technology Lead for Laboratory Systems & Integration to ensure secure, reliable digital environments across Quality Control and Process Development laboratories. Based in Belgium, you will shape roadmaps, drive transformations, and collaborate globally with scientists, IT, and external partners.

You will lead lifecycle management of laboratory digital systems, align with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements, and work in a hybrid setup to optimize value for patients

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of IT experience including project delivery and system implementation in complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory systems and digital technologies supporting scientific/manufacturing operations.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure technologies including networks, servers, cloud platforms, operating systems, databases, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, or other compliance-driven environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business discussions; fluent English; French desirable.

Responsabilités

  • Own and manage a portfolio of laboratory digital systems and equipment environments, ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant operation throughout their lifecycle.
  • Partner with laboratory stakeholders to understand future needs, assess demand, prioritize initiatives, and develop technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the design, implementation, integration, validation, and deployment of digital solutions supporting laboratory equipment and scientific processes.
  • Ensure systems comply with pharmaceutical regulations, cybersecurity requirements, data integrity standards, and business continuity expectations.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external partners to deliver technology projects on time while balancing quality, compliance, operational readiness, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor system performance and continuously improve technology environments to support evolving laboratory and manufacturing requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of standards, governance processes, and best practices for laboratory technology integration and digital operations.

We are looking for a Digital Technology Lead Laboratory Systems & Integration who is collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented to join our Digital Technology Industrial Solutions team, based in our Braine-l'Alleud office in Brussels Region, Belgium.

About The Role

As a Digital Technology Lead Laboratory Systems & Integration, you will play a key role in supporting Quality Control and Process Development laboratories by ensuring laboratory technologies and digital systems are secure, compliant, reliable, and aligned with business needs.

You will act as the primary Digital Technology partner for laboratory stakeholders, leading the planning, design, implementation, and lifecycle management of laboratory equipment digital environments. You will help shape future technology roadmaps, drive digital transformation initiatives, and ensure systems operate in line with regulatory, cybersecurity, and operational requirements across a global manufacturing network.

Who You'll Work With

You will be working in a team that partners closely with laboratory scientists, Quality Control and Process Development teams, business leaders, external suppliers, and Digital Technology specialists across infrastructure, cybersecurity, service management, and project delivery.

This highly collaborative role connects business and technology, requiring you to engage with stakeholders at all levels, from laboratory users to senior leaders. You will also work with colleagues across Belgium, Switzerland, Brazil, and Japan to support a global laboratory technology landscape.

Interested? For this role we're looking for the following education, experience and skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT, including project delivery, system implementation, and stakeholder management within complex environments
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory systems, laboratory equipment integration, and digital technologies supporting scientific or manufacturing operations
  • Good understanding of infrastructure technologies including networks, servers, cloud platforms, operating systems, databases, and cybersecurity principles
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, or other compliance-driven environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business discussions and influence diverse stakeholders
  • Fluent in English is a must, fluency in French is highly desirable
