Visser & Van Baars is seeking a Medior/Senior Database Administrator in Brussels to maintain Sybase ASE and SQL Server, and to guide the evolution of the database environment within a small, specialist DBA team. The role supports on-call rotation and a primarily English-speaking environment.

You will join a healthcare-focused, complex IT landscape where reliability and responsibility are essential. A Brussels-based role with three remote days per week offers a long‑term, stable career path.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server and/or Sybase.
• Experience with both technologies is highly valued.
• Strong Sybase knowledge is a major advantage, particularly given the current environment.
• Candidates with strong SQL Server expertise but limited or no Sybase experience can also be considered, provided they are willing to learn Sybase.
• Experience in a large, complex or business-critical IT environment is highly valued.
• Able to work independently and take responsibility.
• Mature, reliable and comfortable working in a small technical team.
• Willing to participate in the on-call rotation.
• Fluent in English; Dutch or French are not required.

Medior/Senior Database Administrator - SQL Server & Sybase

Brussels | Healthcare | Permanent position

For a leading healthcare organisation in Brussels, we are looking for a Medior/Senior Database Administrator to join a small and specialised DBA team within a large and complex IT environment.

The database environment currently relies heavily on Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server. In the short term, Sybase will remain an important part of the role. Over time, the organisation plans to gradually reduce its reliance on Sybase and evolve towards other technologies, with SQL Server playing an important role in this transition.

Your responsibilities
