Job summary

IVC Evidensia Belgium is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to own the evolution of our Databricks-based data platform. You will build scalable ELT/ETL pipelines, onboard new data sources, and enable analytics via Power BI and Databricks AI/BI capabilities.

This is a freelance/B2B role with up to 3 days per week commitment and an initial 3-month term, with potential extension. You will work closely with business stakeholders and Group Data teams to ensure scalable, high-quality analytics,

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer, available for a maximum of 3 days per week on a freelance/B2B basis.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Azure Databricks (including AI/BI Dashboards and Genie), strong SQL skills, and a solid understanding of Python and/or PySpark.
• Familiar with data modeling principles and orchestration tools (such as Azure Data Factory or equivalent). Excellent understanding of cloud data architecture, with a focus on performance and cost management.
• Desirable: Unity Catalog, Delta Lake optimization, Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep/Terraform), or event-driven architectures.
• Languages: Dutch and English; knowledge of French is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines in Azure Databricks.
• Onboard and integrate new data sources, ensuring consistency with the platform design.
• Improve pipeline reliability, monitoring and observability.
• Implement data quality checks and maintain clear data flow documentation.
• Develop datasets ready for downstream consumption via Power BI, Databricks AI/BI, and self-service analytics.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in Belgium and Group level to align with the data landscape.
