As a senior data analyst in Belgium, you will lead business analysis from ideation through delivery, translating business needs into traceable requirements and practical data solutions using SQL and data modelling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in a senior data analyst or equivalent business analysis role.
• Apply conceptual modelling techniques to represent data, processes, users and target solutions.
• Query data with SQL and interpret big data, BI, reporting and dashboarding concepts.
• Translate business requirements into IT test conditions and support product, performance and UAT testing.
• Manage requirements, workflows, backlog priorities and traceability across an Agile delivery lifecycle.

A major financial institution in the Belgian banking and insurance sector is developing a data hub to improve how business teams use data for reporting, dashboards, and operational decisions. As a senior data analyst in Belgium, you will lead business analysis from initial idea through delivery, using SQL querying and conceptual modelling to turn business needs into traceable requirements, test conditions, and practical data solutions.

The mission

The initiative maps current data flows, user roles, usage patterns, workflow processes, and data issues before defining target solutions and use cases. The technical landscape includes big data, BI, reporting, dashboarding, and data architecture, with delivery following Agile methodologies, including backlog management and sprint planning, with an MVP mindset. This gives Product Owners, architects, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders a shared basis for impact analysis and solution decisions.

Your scope

Your scope connects business stakeholders with technical teams throughout the delivery lifecycle. You will contribute to business case development and requirements co‑creation, then support data architecture design, solution validation, quality reviews, testing, change management, and report creation. You will maintain requirements traceability and ensure that delivered capabilities reflect agreed use cases and workflows.

Your profile

Essential skills

• Bring at least 4 years of experience in a senior data analyst, data analyst, or comparable business analysis role.
• Apply conceptual modelling techniques and methods to represent data, processes, users, and target solutions.
• Query data with SQL and interpret big data, BI, reporting, and dashboarding concepts.
• Translate business requirements into IT test conditions and support product, performance, and UAT testing.
• Manage requirements, workflows, backlog priorities, and traceability across an Agile delivery lifecycle.
• Combine project management and stakeholder management with structured analysis, problem‑solving, negotiation, and clear communication.
• Use MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to analyse, document, and present outcomes.

Preferred skills

• Use SAS Enterprise Guide for data analysis or report creation.
• Contribute to data flow analysis, use cases, data architecture design, change management, and requirements traceability.
• Understand banking activities and products, particularly insurance.

Languages

• Dutch: B2 CEFR, good knowledge and understanding.
• French: B2 CEFR, good knowledge and understanding.
• English: C1 CEFR, strong written and spoken communication.

Education

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience.
