VIB in Ghent invites a Cybersecurity Engineer to join the ICT department. You will protect the digital environment for thousands of researchers and support staff, collaborating with the Senior Security Engineer to strengthen security across Microsoft 365, Azure, endpoints, servers, networks and identity services.

You will investigate alerts, automate tasks, and implement new security capabilities while engaging with colleagues and external partners to embed security in all services and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in ICT, cybersecurity or related field.
• Approximately 3 years of experience in system/infrastructure/security engineering.
• Solid understanding of modern Microsoft technologies and cybersecurity principles.
• Analytical problem solver with a proactive mindset.
• Eager to continuously learn and develop cybersecurity expertise.
• Owns their work and communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Thrives in environments with initiative and ambiguity.

Responsabilités

• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts and incidents using Microsoft Defender and Sentinel.
• Maintain secure configurations across Microsoft 365, Azure, endpoints, servers and network infrastructure.
• Contribute to automation, scripting and improvements in security monitoring.
• Collaborate with ICT colleagues and external partners to embed security in projects.
• Share knowledge and help raise the security maturity of the ICT team.
