Job summary

Skillbase Group Ltd in Merelbeke is seeking a hands-on Cybersecurity Engineer to join our IT team. You will secure our IT environment across infrastructure, cloud, identity, endpoints and networks, while aligning with the CIO and security operations.

You will monitor security events, investigate incidents and support remediation, vulnerability management, and secure configurations. A broad, ownership-driven role with exposure to NIS2 requirements awaits.

Qualifications

• Solid IT infrastrucutre background with practical cybersecurity experience.
• Experience implementing and maintaining security controls (NIS2, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
• Knowledge of security monitoring, incident response and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of NIS2 and cybersecurity initiatives.
• Monitor security events, analyse logs and investigate incidents.
• Support incident response, remediation and vulnerability management.
• Conduct security reviews of new systems, software and infrastructure.
• Advise IT teams on secure configurations and best practices.
• Maintain Microsoft 365, Entra ID, cloud and endpoint security.
• Contribute to security policies, procedures and security awareness.

We are looking for a hands-on Cybersecurity Engineer to join our IT team in Merelbeke. This is a broad, practical security role working closely with the CIO, infrastructure and support teams to strengthen our security posture and support the ongoing implementation of NIS2 requirements.

The Role

You will help secure our IT environment across infrastructure, cloud, identity, endpoints and networks, while supporting security operations and incident response.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the implementation of NIS2 and cybersecurity initiativesMonitoring security events, analysing logs and investigating incidentsSupporting incident response, remediation and vulnerability managementConducting security reviews of new systems, software and infrastructureAdvising IT teams on secure configurations and best practicesSupporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID, cloud and endpoint securityContributing to security policies, procedures and security awarenessKeeping up to date with emerging threats and vulnerabilitiesWorking closely with the CIO and wider IT team as a trusted security partner

What We’re Looking For :

You will have a solid IT infrastructure or systems administration background, combined with practical cybersecurity experience.

Key skills include:

Networking: firewalls, routing, VLANs, subnetting and segmentationIAM, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra IDEndpoint, email and cloud securityEDR/XDR and security monitoringIncident investigation and security triageUnderstanding of Zero Trust and Least PrivilegeKnowledge of security frameworks such as NIS2, ISO 27001 or CIS Controls

Experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, SD-WAN, VMware/Hyper-V, Cisco ISE, SOC operations, threat hunting or vulnerability management would be an advantage, but deep expertise in every technology is not required.

Languages: Dutch and English required
