Joris Ide in Belgium is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer passionate about cybersecurity to act as the internal owner of security operations, engineering, and compliance. In this full-time position, you will work closely with external SOC and internal IT teams to enhance cybersecurity practices and response.

The ideal candidate will have 4–7 years of relevant experience and must speak Dutch and English fluently. The company offers an attractive salary package and flexible working hours in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security roles.
• Hands-on experience in operational IT environments.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, virtualization and cloud.
• Experience with incident response, detection and monitoring.
• Familiar with cybersecurity trends and willing to travel occasionally.

Responsabilités

• Support the Head of IT Infrastructure in maintaining the cybersecurity vision.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the external SOC.
• Triage, validate and coordinate incident response with internal teams.
• Manage and optimize security tooling and automate SOC-related workflows.
• Lead vulnerability management and OT cybersecurity initiatives.

As our first dedicated Cybersecurity Engineer, you will act as the internal owner of security operations, engineering and compliance, working closely with our external SOC, internal IT teams and partners. What does your day look like?

• You support the Head of IT Infrastructure in maintaining the cybersecurity vision and strategy aligned with business priorities.
• You act as the primary point of contact for our external SOC and follow up on escalated alerts and incidents.
• You triage, validate and coordinate incident response together with internal IT teams.
• You continuously improve detection quality by fine-tuning rules and reducing false positives.
• You manage and optimize security tooling such as Google Chronicle, CrowdStrike, Qualys and Umbrella.
• You lead vulnerability management and OT cybersecurity initiatives.
• You automate and streamline SOC-related workflows and reporting.
• You develop dashboards and SLA/KPI reporting to increase visibility.
• You support risk assessments, audits and the roadmap towards ISO 27001 certification.
• You document policies, procedures and post-incident analyses where required.
• You lead and participate in tabletop exercises to test incident readiness.
• You stay up to date with cybersecurity trends and propose continuous improvements.

Who are we looking for?

• You have 4–7 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security roles.
• You have hands-on experience in an operational IT environment.
• You have a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, virtualization and cloud.
• You have experience with SIEM and EDR/XDR solutions.incident response , detection and monitoring.
• You combine strong analytical skills with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset.
• You communicate easily with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You enjoy working in an informal, no-nonsense environment.
• You are a team player who likes to take ownership and initiative.
• You are familiar with ITIL.
• You speak Dutch and English fluently; knowledge of French is a plus.
• You are willing to travel occasionally to different sites.
