The Sustainable Energy Finance Association (SEFA) in Brussels seeks a Communications Officer to strengthen visibility and impact. You will translate complex policy, finance and technical topics into clear, engaging content for EU institutions, financial bodies, authorities and the public.

The role covers strategic communications, content development and dissemination for LIFE, Horizon Europe and other EU projects. Collaboration across international teams and partners is essential.

Qualifications

• A university degree in communications, public relations, European studies, political science, sustainability, international business or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant experience in communications within a European association or EU funded project is preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional European language is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Manage SEFA’s website, social media channels and newsletters.
• Draft and edit news articles, press releases and stakeholder communications.
• Develop communication materials such as presentations, brochures and factsheets.

The Sustainable Energy Finance Association (SEFA) is a Brussels-based, European Not for Profit entity established in 2021 accelerating the transition to a net zero carbon economy by advancing the development and financing of sustainable energy across Europe’s built environment.

Position Overview

SEFA is seeking a creative, organised and proactive Communications Officer to strengthen the visibility and impact of the organisation and its projects.

The successful candidate will support the planning and delivery of SEFA’s external communications, translating complex policy, finance and technical topics into clear and engaging content for a range of audiences. These include EU institutions, financial organisations, public authorities, industry stakeholders, project partners and the wider public.

The role combines strategic communications, content development and EU project dissemination. It offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainable finance, energy efficiency, building renovation and European policy.

Key responsibilities

• Manage SEFA’s website, social media channels and newsletters, ensuring content remains current and engaging.
• Draft and edit news articles, social media posts, press releases, project updates and stakeholder communications.
• Develop communication materials, including presentations, brochures, factsheets, event materials and project templates.
• Plan and deliver communication and dissemination activities for SEFA’s LIFE, Horizon Europe and other EU funded projects.
• Support the day-to-day management of EU funded projects, including work planning, task tracking and coordination with consortium partners.
• Monitor project milestones, deliverables, deadlines and performance indicators.
• Contribute to the preparation of project deliverables, progress reports and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with project partners, members and external service providers to ensure the timely delivery of communication and dissemination activities.
• Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all organisational and project communications.
• Monitor communication performance and prepare activity reports for SEFA and its EU funded projects.

Candidate profile

• A university degree in communications, public relations, European studies, political science, sustainability, international business or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant experience in communications, preferably within a European association, EU funded project, public affairs organisation or sustainability focused organisation.
• Excellent written and spoken English. Working knowledge of an additional European language is a plus
• Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex subjects clearly.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Competence with design and content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms
• A proactive, collaborative and detail-oriented approach with confidence working in an international and multicultural environment.

Desirable qualifications and experience

• Experience communicating the activities and results of EU funded projects, particularly LIFE or Horizon Europe projects.
• Familiarity with European institutions and Brussels based stakeholder networks.
• Experience using content management systems, email marketing platforms and social media management tools.
• Experience supporting webinars, conferences and stakeholder events.

• Start Date: 01/01/2027
• Duration: 12 months (with possible extension)
