Meet Life Sciences in Ghent, Belgium, is seeking an experienced Freelance Cloud Engineer for an initial 6-month on-site contract starting ASAP. The role focuses on designing, implementing and automating modern cloud infrastructure across Azure, Kubernetes (AKS) and Terraform.

You will collaborate with DevOps, Data and AI teams to deliver scalable, reliable cloud solutions, build CI/CD pipelines, and apply IaC practices to improve automation and deployment efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of cloud engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Kubernetes, ideally AKS.
• Strong Terraform / Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Proven experience with DevOps and CI/CD.
• Strong automation experience across infrastructure, provisioning and deployments.
• Experience delivering or supporting cloud solutions within Data & AI environments.
• Hands-on engineering mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

Freelance Cloud Engineer

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Cloud Engineer to join a leading life sciences organisation in Ghent on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a hands‑on engineering position focused on designing, implementing and automating modern cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes and Terraform. You will work across DevOps, Data and AI environments, helping to deliver scalable and reliable cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure
• Manage and develop Kubernetes environments, ideally AKS
• Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments and cloud processes

Requirements

• 3–5+ years' experience in Cloud Engineering; more experienced candidates are welcome
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Kubernetes, ideally Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Strong Terraform / Infrastructure as Code experience
• Proven experience with DevOps and CI/CD
• Strong automation experience across infrastructure, provisioning and deployments
• Experience delivering or supporting cloud solutions within Data & AI environments
• Hands‑on engineering mindset with strong problem‑solving skills
• Comfortable working collaboratively across technical teams

Contract Details

• 6-month freelance contract
• 5 days per week onsite in Ghent, Belgium
• ASAP start preferred
