SGS Belgium NV is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to act as the trusted right-hand to the Managing Director and a key member of the executive leadership team. You will drive operational excellence across European production, logistics, R&D, and purchasing.

You will lead end-to-end operations across European manufacturing and warehouse sites, oversee KPI's (OEE, on-time delivery, cost and quality), drive lean and continuous improvement, and ensure health, safety, and environmental standards

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field.
• 10+ years of proven experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of European cross-border supply chain dynamics and logistics.

Position

As Chief Operating Officer, you act as the trusted and accountable right-hand partner to the Managing Director and as a key member of the executive leadership team. You drive operational excellence across European production, logistics, R&D, and purchasing.

• You lead end-to-end operations across the European manufacturing and warehouse sites, with (initially) a strong presence at the rapidly expanding manufacturing site in Poland, supported by the local Factory Manager.
• You own operational KPI’s, including productivity, OEE, on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and quality performance.
• You drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, optimizing the assembly activities, while ensuring rigorous health, safety, and quality standards across all markets.
• You actively identify supply chain optimization opportunities, overseeing the European supplier base, logistics networks and transitioning inventory and resource management from a seasonal, on-demand model to structured standardization and planning.
• You ensure compliance with European regulations, including CE marking and country-specific environmental requirements, health and safety or other operational standards.
• You work closely with diverse, remote teams across production, logistics, purchasing, and R&D fostering a culture of accountability, ownership and verticality.
• You lead, develop and engage the teams across diverse cultures and maturity levels.

Profile

• You hold a Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related, and have min 10 years of proven successful experience in industrial manufacturing.
• You have a robust managerial background and bring a deep understanding of European cross-border supply chain dynamics and logistics complexities.
• You are accustomed to operating in turnaround environments, performance improvement, or scaling operations, bringing the agility to handle rapid change alongside the structured experience needed to scale.
• You combine a strong strategic vision with a highly pragmatic, proactive, and "floor-first" mentality, demonstrating a willingness to step directly onto the factory floor and solve problems.
• You have proven experience managing multi-site operations across Europe and translating company strategy into a clear European operational roadmap and lead the transformation initiatives.
• You are comfortable leading multi-cultural teams and empowering team members to take full ownership while maintaining transparent, trust-based communication.
• You communicate convincingly as a challenging sounding board to executive leadership, demonstrating high resilience and a solution-oriented mindset.
