A European environmental organization is looking for a Campaign Coordinator based in Brussels to manage activities across various EU cities. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in campaign and event management, strong communication and organizational skills, and fluency in English along with another partner country language. Location: Brussels
Contract: Full-time, fixed term until the end of 2027

Air pollution is one of the biggest environmental threats to health in Europe. Through the Healthy Lungs for Life (HLfL) campaign, the European Lung Foundation (ELF) and the European Respiratory Society (ERS) are mobilising healthcare professionals, patients and civil society to build public and political support for implementation of the revised Ambient Air Quality Directive.
To achieve this we are launching a multi-country initiative across 9 EU Member States to strengthen local capacity, deliver public engagement campaigns, and support civil society advocacy for cleaner air. The countries included are France, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, Italy, Ireland, Poland, Romania and Greece.
We are seeking two values-driven Campaign coordinator based in Brussels to coordinate activities across participating cities and help drive delivery of this high-impact programme.

About the role

You will:

  • Coordinate city-level working groups linking patients, healthcare professionals, civil society and policymakers.
  • Support delivery of public events, lung health checks and awareness campaigns.
  • Administrate a micro-grants scheme for local civil society organisations.
  • Help co-ordinate and deliver regional schools programmes.
  • Support high-level policy engagement and media opportunities.
  • Contribute to monitoring, reporting and programme evaluation.
  • Support on local fundraising.
  • Be able to travel to partner countries when required.
About you

You have:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in campaigns, event management, advocacy roles or project coordination.
  • Experience working with civil society and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Strong communications skills and experience working directly in comms or with a comms team
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple countries/workstreams.
  • Excellent English communication skills (additional partner country language essential).
  • An interest in public health, environment or EU policy implementation.

1. Project & Operational Management

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate implementation across 4-5 EU countries.
  • Maintain detailed workplans and timelines.
  • Ensure milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Support financial tracking related to micro-grants and activities.
  • Strong planning and organisational ability.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Building

Responsibilities

  • Support establishment and coordination of city-level working groups.
  • Maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, patient organisations, municipalities and civil society.
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder collaboration.
  • Identify regional and national level funding opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
  • Ability to work across cultures, languages, and sectors
  • Network-building capacity.
3. Advocacy & Policy Support

Responsibilities

  • Support organisation of high-level meetings linking science, lived experience and policy.
  • Contribute to advocacy materials and briefing documents.
  • Monitor developments related to the Ambient Air Quality Directive.
  • Understanding EU air quality policies.
  • Understanding the impact of air pollution on health from a science and lived experience perspective.
  • Ability to translate technical information into accessible messaging.
  • Strategic awareness of political environments.
4. Communications & Public Engagement

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of city-specific communication strategies.
  • Assist with campaign materials and local adaptation.
  • Coordinate public events and press opportunities.
  • Experience in campaign or public-facing initiatives.
  • Ability to manage event logistics.
  • Sensitivity to misinformation risks and public trust issues.

  • Track outputs and outcomes (events, reach, partnerships).
  • Support survey implementation and impact measurement.
  • Contribute to donor reporting and learning documentation.

Profile

Education:
Degree or equivalent experience in health campaigns, public health, environmental studies, EU affairs, project management or related field.

Experience:
Minimum 3 years relevant professional experience.

Languages:
Fluent English required plus at least one other language from the partner countries. Knowledge of multiple languages is beneficial for this role.

Salary

€3,300 gross monthly salary +

The office has a hybrid working policy with minimum 2 days a week in the office.
