ECS, based in Belgium, seeks a Business Controller to act as a key financial partner in operations. This role involves translating complex data into valuable insights for management, driving performance improvements, budgeting, and investment reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in economics or finance, possesses a minimum of 5 years in a controlling role, is fluent in both Dutch and English, and has strong skills in financial analysis and ERP tools.

As a Business Controller, you will become a crucial link between finance and operations. You translate numbers into insights and insights into action, growing into a true sparring partner for management.

Your role

As a Business Controller, you are part of the Group Controlling/Finance team and report directly to the Group Controller. You combine financial expertise with a strong business mindset, supporting the organization in making well‑founded, future‑oriented decisions.

What will you do?

Business partnering & performance management

• You are the key financial point of contact for the business and work closely with operational stakeholders
• You build deep insights into business drivers and translate these into clear steering information
• You critically challenge budgets, forecasts, and business cases on assumptions and risks
• You support management in monitoring and improving performance through KPIs and targeted actions
• You translate financial insights into concrete improvement initiatives

Budgeting & management reporting

• You coordinate and support the budgeting and forecasting process for your business units
• You prepare periodic reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPIs)
• You analyze variances and translate them into clear insights and recommendations
• You deliver ad hoc analyses that support management in strategic decision‑making

Impact at group level

• You monitor CAPEX reporting and support investment cases
• You contribute to cash flow reporting and analyze financing needs
• You help optimize reporting tools and controls

Projects & innovation

• You support the Group Controller in projects related to investments, reporting tools, AI, and process automation
• You provide financial and analytical input for strategic initiatives
• You contribute to efficient, data‑driven, and future‑proof processes

Profile

Who are you?

• You hold a master’s degree in economics, finance, or equivalent experience
• You have at least 5 years of experience in controlling or a similar role
• You have experience with ERP systems and BI tools such as Power BI; experience with CPM tools is a plus
• You are strong in Excel and data analysis; knowledge of Power Query or process optimization is an advantage
