North Iowa Community Action Organization (NICAO) is seeking a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to join our WIC team. This role focuses on education, encouragement, and peer support for pregnant and breastfeeding families, drawing on your own experience to help parents reach feeding goals.

The position is primarily remote with onboarding in Mason City and occasional travel to WIC clinics or events. Candidates should have prior WIC participation or breastfeeding experience and be able to work about 10

Position: Breastfeeding Peer Counselor
Location: Mostly Remote (Mason City, IA)

Are you passionate about supporting new and expectant parents? Do you enjoy encouraging others and making a meaningful difference in your community? North Iowa Community Action Organization (NICAO) is looking for a compassionate and motivated Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to join our WIC team!

In this role, you'll provide education, encouragement, and peer support to pregnant and breastfeeding families by sharing your own breastfeeding experience and helping parents reach their feeding goals.

What You'll Do
  • Provide breastfeeding education, encouragement, and support to WIC participants.
  • Connect with families by phone, text, virtual appointments, and other approved communication methods.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participant records.
  • Collaborate with WIC staff to ensure families receive quality services.
  • Participate in required trainings and continuing education.

Work Location:

This position is primarily remote. The selected candidate will be expected to come to the Mason City office for onboarding, trainings, and may occasionally travel to attend WIC clinics, breastfeeding events, meetings, or required trainings.

We're Looking For Someone Who
  • Past or current WIC participant
  • Have breastfed at least one baby (do not have to be currently breastfeeding).
  • Are enthusiastic about breastfeeding and want to help other mothers enjoy a positive experience.
  • Can work about 10 hours a week.
  • Able to make phone calls, texts, work on computer confidentially from home.
  • Have reliable transportation
