Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking a Backend Developer for a large-scale project in the public safety sector. You will build and maintain high-performance REST APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core within a modular architecture, collaborating with frontend teams on contracts and validation.

Responsibilities include data modeling with EF Core and MSSQL, testing, and applying OWASP security guidelines. The role offers hybrid work from Gent with a start date 04/11/2026 and a 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
• 3+ years of designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with Entity Framework Core and relational databases such as MSSQL.
• Practical knowledge of testing and quality through unit testing and integration testing.
• Solid experience with version control using Git.
• In-depth understanding of modular architecture and the separation between shared and domain-specific code.
• Knowledge of security principles including OWASP guidelines and input validation.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies.
• You're able to independently analyze technical problems and provide maintainable solutions.
• You are native in Dutch.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend functionalities using C# and ASP.NET Core within a modular architecture.
• Design, build, and maintain REST APIs and ensure consistent data delivery via JSON.
• Manage data models and processing using Entity Framework Core and MSSQL.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure software quality and stability.
• Collaborate with frontend developers on API contracts, data validation, and error handling.
• Implement secure software development practices based on OWASP guidelines.
• Document technical choices, code, and API specifications for long-term maintainability.
