Job summary

Visser & Van Baars in Brussels is seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to work on long-term consultancy projects across Belgium. You'll design, build and optimise data pipelines, leverage Azure data services, Databricks and Microsoft Fabric, and collaborate with business stakeholders.

This hybrid role offers diverse tech challenges and a pathway to deepen Azure, Databricks and Fabric expertise while delivering robust data solutions in multi-organisational environments.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and data engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Professional experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse or Data Lake.
• Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric experience is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of Python or another programming language is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently and in a consulting environment.
• Good communication skills and a pragmatic approach.
• Fluent English + Dutch or French is required.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid setup in Brussels.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and optimise data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Work with Microsoft Azure data technologies, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse and Data Lake.
• Develop and maintain scalable data integration and transformation solutions.
• Work with Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric where relevant.
• Ensure data quality, performance and reliability across data solutions.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, Analysts and business stakeholders.
• Analyse technical challenges and translate requirements into effective data solutions.
• Take ownership of your work while continuously expanding your technical skill set.
• Contribute to a variety of long-term consultancy projects within the Brussels region.
