Job Description

As an Automation & Equipment Solutions Engineer, you will join a strategic remediation program for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Belgium, focused on defining and costing technical solutions for equipment identified with data integrity gaps.

Working hand in hand with a CSV/Data Integrity Lead, you will translate confirmed gaps into concrete, budget-conscious solutions — ranging from lightweight procedural or software fixes to full hardware replacement.

This role sits at the crossroads of automation engineering and pragmatic cost management: the client's clear priority is to favor mitigation whenever it brings residual risk to an acceptable level, reserving full revamp for situations where no credible alternative exists.

We're looking for an engineer who can think in options rather than a single fixed scope, and who is as comfortable estimating a budget as designing a technical fix.

The Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the program lead and working closely with the CSV/Data Integrity Lead and client engineering teams, your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing confirmed data integrity gaps per equipment family and identifying feasible technical solutions
  • Defining a tiered set of options for each case — mitigation, partial remediation, full revamp — with clear technical rationale
  • Estimating ROM (rough order of magnitude) costs and implementation effort for each option
  • Assessing hardware, access management, and automation/control system upgrade paths where relevant
  • Factoring in equipment obsolescence and lifecycle considerations when evaluating remediation versus replacement
  • Producing technical documentation that supports prioritization and budget arbitration
  • Contributing to a model that can be extrapolated across a wider equipment population
  • Collaborating closely with the CSV/Data Integrity Lead and site engineering teams to validate feasibility.
Skills & Qualifications
  • You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in automation, industrial engineering, or a related field
  • You have a minimum of 5 years' experience in automation, instrumentation, or equipment engineering within a GMP-regulated environment
  • You are familiar with PLC/SCADA systems, electronic access control, and audit trail/data historian solutions
  • You have experience estimating costs and effort for technical remediation or upgrade projects
  • You are comfortable navigating capex constraints and prioritizing pragmatic solutions over costly overhauls
  • Prior experience with equipment obsolescence assessment or legacy system retrofit is a strong asset
  • You communicate clearly with both technical teams and decision-makers
  • Your English and French communication is clear and structured.
Your Team

We will discuss it in details during the interview process.

If you enjoy turning technical constraints into pragmatic, cost-conscious solutions for a major pharmaceutical site, we'd love to hear from you.
