Job summary

ITS Group S.A. is seeking an Automation Engineer to join its OT Cybersecurity team in Belgium. The role focuses on delivering technical projects for industrial customers in the Antwerp and Limburg regions, including mapping production networks, dividing networks into zones, and installing firewalls between OT and IT.

You will set up secure remote access for suppliers and monitor OT networks. You will perform technical work on-site and remotely, collaborating with a Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation or related field with automation/industrial electronics focus.
• Experience in industrial automation, PLC/SCADA/DCS familiarity required or desired.
• Hands-on knowledge of OT networks and industrial communication protocols.
• Knowledge of Profinet, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP is preferred.
• German/Dutch language skills are a plus; fluent in English is required to work with international teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver OT cybersecurity projects from inventory through commissioning and handover.

We are looking for an Automation Engineer with experience in industrial automation and industrial networks to join an OT Cybersecurity team.

The role focuses on delivering technical projects for industrial customers in the Antwerp and Limburg regions. These projects include mapping production networks and connected assets, dividing industrial networks into zones, installing firewalls between OT and IT environments, implementing secure remote access for suppliers, and setting up OT network monitoring.

The engineer will perform the technical work both on-site and remotely, in cooperation with a Project Manager.

Previous cybersecurity experience is not required.

The candidate must primarily understand how PLC, SCADA and DCS environments communicate and demonstrate a genuine interest in developing expertise in OT cybersecurity and industrial networks. Cybersecurity knowledge will be developed within the team, alongside experienced cybersecurity specialists.

Your missions:

• Deliver OT cybersecurity projects for industrial customers, from initial inventory and assessment through commissioning and final handover.
• Improve the visibility, segmentation, security and monitoring of industrial networks.
• Apply cybersecurity solutions without disrupting the customer’s production activities.
• Work both on customer sites and remotely.
• Act as the technical point of contact for customers on-site.
• Coordinate technical activities with the Project Manager.
• Develop OT cybersecurity expertise through collaboration with experienced cybersecurity specialists.

Your activities:

Industrial Network and Asset Mapping

• Map industrial networks and their architecture.
• Identify and inventory all assets connected to the industrial network.
• Understand the communication between PLC, SCADA and DCS systems.
• Analyse industrial network connections and communication flows.
• Contribute to the design of industrial network segmentation.
• Implement the agreed network segmentation solutions.
• Support the separation and protection of OT and IT environments.

Technical Configuration

• Configure firewalls between OT and IT environments.
• Configure switches used within industrial networks.
• Configure solutions for secure remote access.
• Implement secure remote access for suppliers and external service providers.

OT Network Monitoring

• Set up monitoring solutions for OT networks.
• Improve visibility of the devices and assets connected to the network.
• Support the monitoring of industrial network activity.

Testing and Commissioning

• Test the implemented technical solutions.
• Commission the solutions in the customer’s industrial environment.
• Coordinate implementation and commissioning activities with the customer.
• Ensure that production remains operational during technical interventions.

Cybersecurity Assessments

• Participate in cybersecurity assessments at customer sites.
• Support the technical analysis of industrial environments during assessments.

Documentation and Project Support

• Document technical configurations.
• Record implemented changes.
• Maintain accurate and structured technical documentation.
• Support the Project Manager with project planning.
• Support the Project Manager with project reporting.

Customer Coordination

• Act as the technical contact for the customer on-site.
• Coordinate effectively with operators, maintenance technicians and the customer’s IT department.
• Communicate technical activities and changes clearly to the relevant stakeholders.

Must Have

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
• Automation
• Electromechanics
• Electronics-ICT
• Or an equivalent qualification or level of experience
• Experience in industrial automation.
• Practical knowledge of one or more of the following:
• PLC
• SCADA
• DCS
• Understanding of how PLC, SCADA and DCS systems communicate within an industrial environment.

Industrial Networks and Protocols

• Experience with industrial networks.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as:
• Profinet
• Modbus TCP

• Basic knowledge of:

Languages

• Fluent Dutch.
• Good command of English.

Mobility and Working Environment

• Driving licence B.
