The Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège (OPRL) invites applicants to audition for the principal viola position. Attendance is required, with preliminary check-in from 9:15 on the audition date.

The remuneration includes a monthly gross salary starting at €4,565.70, plus allowances for clothing, audiovisual fee, double holiday pay, and benefits such as a supplementary pension plan (80% employer-covered), comprehensive insurance for income and instrument, and instrument maintenance

The OPRL is holding an audition for 1 Principal Viola

Practical information

When: Monday, September 14, 2026 at 10:00 (attendance required from 9.15 for the draw)

For candidates who reach the third round of the audition, the OPRL will cover travel and accommodation expenses up to €400 per candidate (upon presentation of receipts).

Remuneration

• Monthly Salary : starting from 4565,70 € gross.


• Additional allowances: clothing allowance, audiovisual fee, double holiday pay.

Auditions

Auditions will consist of three rounds:

First round

1 st movement (with cadenza) from one of the following concertos:

• STAMITZ, Concerto for Viola (edition Peters)


• HOFFMEISTER, Concerto for Viola in D major

One or more orchestral excerpts (chosen by the jury, taken from the list shown in round 3)*

Second round

1 st movement (with cadenza) from one of the following concertos:

• BARTóK, Concerto for Viola (Ed. Serly) (including "lento parlando", up to "a tempo moderato" before the 2 nd movement)


• WALTON, Concerto for Viola

One or more orchestral excerpts (chosen by the jury, taken from the list shown in round 3)*

Third round
