Templeton & Partners seeks an ATM engineering professional to shape and transition safety nets, surveillance, and data link services into a new ATM system. You will validate STCA, MSAW, APW configurations and CPDLC procedures within a complex architecture.

You will coordinate with operations, engineering and regulatory stakeholders, ensuring alignment with European ATM regulations and contributing to V&V activities and change management for a high-impact transformation.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of ATC safety nets STCA, MSAW, APW and monitoring aids.
• Solid understanding of radar, ADS-B, multilateration and their integration within ATM architecture.
• Working knowledge of CPDLC and data link services.
• Experience applying change management methodologies to safety net, surveillance or data link transitions.
• Familiarity with ICAO, EUROCONTROL and EASA regulatory frameworks.

Responsabilités

• Analyse existing ATC safety net configurations such as STCA, MSAW and APW, and adapt them to the new ATM system.
• Analyse and adapt surveillance data processing and CPDLC data link procedures.
• Ensure technical alignment between safety net, surveillance and data link requirements and the overall ATM system architecture, including interfaces and constraints.
• Provide expert advice and support to internal teams across operations, engineering, training and safety, and to system vendors and regulators.
• Support change management for the transition of safety net, surveillance and data link functions, including impact assessments and rollout planning.
• Contribute to verification and validation activities, including reviewing test plans and validating results against operational requirements.
• Participate in SDM/SESAR working groups to reflect developments in the new ATM system.
• Monitor compliance with European ATM regulations and support safety case development and impact assessments.

Are you an ATM engineering professional with strong expertise in safety nets, surveillance systems and data link services? Are you excited by the challenge of transitioning these critical capabilities into a new ATM system?

I'm looking for a specialist to help shape, validate and safely transition STCA, MSAW, APW, surveillance and CPDLC functions within a complex ATM environment.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will:

• Analyse existing ATC safety net configurations such as Short Term Conflict Alert (STCA), Minimum Safe Altitude Warning (MSAW) and Area Proximity Warning (APW), and adapt them to the new ATM system.
• Analyse and adapt surveillance data processing and CPDLC data link procedures.
• Ensure technical alignment between safety net, surveillance and data link requirements and the overall ATM system architecture, including interfaces, functionalities and constraints.
• Provide expert advice and support to internal teams across operations, engineering, training and safety, as well as external stakeholders such as system vendors and regulators.
• Support change management for the transition of safety net, surveillance and data link functions, including impact assessments, stakeholder validation and rollout planning.
• Contribute to verification and validation (V&V) activities, including reviewing test plans, supporting test execution and validating results against operational requirements.
• Participate in relevant SDM/SESAR working groups, ensuring that relevant developments and feedback are reflected in the implementation of the new ATM system.
• Monitor compliance of safety net, surveillance and data link functions with applicable European ATM regulations.
• Support safety case development and impact assessments related to system and procedural changes.

What you bring

You have:

• In-depth knowledge of ATC safety nets, including STCA, MSAW, APW and monitoring aids.
• A solid understanding of surveillance technologies, including radar, ADS-B and multilateration, and their integration within ATM architecture.
• Working knowledge of data link services, particularly CPDLC.
• Experience applying change management methodologies to safety net, surveillance or data link transitions.
• A Master’s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, ATM or a related field, or an equivalent ATCO licence/rating.
• Relevant experience in ATC/ATM engineering, ideally with a focus on surveillance, safety nets and/or data link.
• Familiarity with ICAO, EUROCONTROL and EASA regulatory frameworks, particularly in relation to surveillance performance and data link services.
• English proficiency at C1/C2 level. Dutch and/or French is an asset.
