Description du poste

Who are we?

Linklaters is a leading global law firm which specializes in advising the world’s leading companies, financial institutions and governments on their most challenging transactions and assignments. With offices in major business and financial centers, we deliver an outstanding service to our clients anywhere in the world.

Linklaters Belgium is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic lawyer to support the Employment practice across a range of initiatives. This position represents a unique opportunity to work with talented, engaged and motivated colleagues and clients in Belgium and abroad.

What do we offer?

Our employment practice is involved in various high-profile, interesting employment matters, including recent and ongoing employment restructurings covered in the media. In view of the growing market opportunities, we would like to strengthen our team. We are looking for a motivated talent, willing to take on responsibilities and play a major role in the growth of our employment practice.

You will be involved in all areas of both collective and individual employment law, including assistance of clients in drafting and terminating employment contracts, collective redundancies and all employment aspects of corporate restructurings. Work in these areas not only includes outside-court assistance, but also covers litigation before the court.

You will thus be entrusted with a mix of transactional, advisory and litigation work in the employment field. You will have first-hand contacts with both the legal and HR departments of our clients.

Given the increasingly international character of our work, there will be plenty of opportunity to work with colleagues and clients worldwide.

We firmly believe that the business a law firm operates in, is a people business. That is the reason why we will provide you with state-of-the-art training on a practice, local and global level - on legal, technology and "soft" skills.

What do we expect?

We are looking for a bright confident lawyer with 1 to 5 years’ experience and a keen interest in financial, economic and legal matters on a global scale.

You have Dutch as your mother tongue and an excellent command of English and French..

You have a first-class Belgian law degree, possibly combined with additional education abroad or a postgraduate degree in the field.

You have a strong analytical sense, excellent drafting and presentation skills (also in English), are commercially aware and solution-oriented.

You are a team player and have the ability to operate throughout complexity and ambiguity staying focused on best outcomes and client satisfaction.

You are pragmatic, solution-driven and creative enough to challenge what the future looks like (possibly combined with a focus on technology), based in a firm which is always striving to be consistently excellent, admired and at the cutting edge of the global legal market.

Additional information

The firm operates as a meritocracy and, therefore, selection for recruitment is on merit, irrespective of gender, race or ethnicity, age, religion, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

Technical Skills: This list of duties and responsibilities above is not exhaustive. It is intended to describe the general content of, and requirements for, the performance of this job. As such, the role may also include the undertaking of additional tasks as required.

This is the place where talent meets opportunity and where passion meets purpose.

At Linklaters, the work we do means carving a path through unexplored territory, working on complex legal matters, across jurisdictions and borders and providing outstanding service and confidence to our clients.

Having the vision to see things differently and the determination to deliver excellence, every time.

That’s what makes us who we are.

You can see your true potential connecting with dynamic colleagues all over the world, united by purpose and shared values and working together as one inclusive, collaborative team.

With second to none training and support, this is the place where you meet your future.

This is Linklaters.

Legal Process

In the event that we make an offer to you, and where local legislation permits, we will conduct pre-engagement screening checks that may include but are not limited to your professional and academic qualifications, your eligibility to work in the relevant jurisdiction, any criminal records, your financial stability and references from previous employers. Your offer will be subject to the successful completion of these checks which will be initiated following your consent.

Diversity and Inclusion

As a responsible business, it is important that we represent the diversity of our people, our clients and our communities. We know that diversity makes us a better law firm and helps us attract the best talent, drive innovation with diversity of thought, and deliver the best experience to everyone who comes into contact with us.

We recruit on the basis of merit, irrespective of age, disability, gender, gender identity, race or ethnicity, marital status, religion, sex, sexual orientation or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate. Selection decisions, and the reasons for those decisions, are recorded at each stage of the selection process.

Selection criteria and, where appropriate, technical skills tests are in place to measure an individual’s ability for the safe and effective performance of a job. Those involved in recruitment and selection decisions and processes are also provided with guidance on diversity issues.

If you require reasonable adjustments to be made during the selection process, please talk to a member of the recruitment team so that any required adjustments can be made in advance.
