Our client in Leuven, a global medical technology leader, is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager for its Global Business Services Center. You will oversee booking, payments, and closing activities, while guiding a growing AP team in a hybrid work environment.

Strong VAT/Intrastat knowledge and AI/automation affinity are essential. The role offers direct impact within an international matrix organization, career development, and a competitive package including a company car and fringe benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Applied Economics, or equivalent.
• Proven leadership skills within a complex, international organization.
• Solid knowledge of international VAT, Intrastat, and tax legislation.
• Analytical, precise, with a continuous improvement mindset; affinity for AI/automation tools.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written). Additional languages are a plus.

Responsabilités

• Oversee all booking and payment activities; perform monthly controls and follow-up on exemptions, manual payments and unpaid invoices.
• Coordinate timely submission of information for periodic declarations to Accounting.
• Lead AP closing activities: accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and open PO follow-up.
• Ensure compliance with group AP accounting policies, VAT, Intrastat, and other tax/legal requirements; support compliance processes.
• Act as primary AP contact for projects requiring AP involvement.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and efficiency gains; propose and implement solutions.
• Lead and coach the AP Accounting team with clear task allocation and performance reviews.
• Foster open communication through regular meetings and proactive problem solving.

Their EMEA headquarters is located in Leuven. For their Global Business Services Center, we are looking for a driven Accounts Payable Manager to act as the key contact person for all internal and external stakeholders regarding AP matters. Your role will encompass operational responsibilities (during escalations), team management, and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all booking and payment activities, perform regular monthly controls, and ensure the execution and follow-up of control lists (e.g., exemptions, manual payments, and unpaid invoices).
• Ensure timely submission of required information for periodic declarations to the Accounting Department.
• Coordinate and execute AP-related financial closing activities, including accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and the follow-up of open Purchase Orders (POs).
• Guarantee compliance with group AP accounting policies, VAT, Intrastat, and other tax and legal requirements, while supporting processes that structurally ensure compliance.
• Act as the primary AP contact for projects requiring AP Accounting involvement.
• Actively identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and efficiency gains within AP Accounting, and propose and implement solutions.
• Lead and coach the AP Accounting team, ensuring clear task allocation, performance follow-up, and professional development opportunities.
• Foster open communication and continuous improvement through regular team meetings, one-on-one discussions, and proactive problem solving.

Who are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Applied Economics, or equivalent) and extensive experience in Accounts Payable within a complex, international organization.
• Proven leadership skills with a constructive coaching style.
• Solid knowledge of international VAT, Intrastat, and tax legislation.
• Analytical, precise, with a continuous improvement mindset and an affinity for AI/automation tools.
• Fluent in English (both spoken and written); additional languages are considered an asset.
