Within the Faculty of Economic, Social and Political Sciences and Communication and the Institute of Political Science Louvain-Europe, Social Sciences and Humanities Sector, this position will include the following teaching, research and community service duties:

  • Teaching

You will teach mainly in the field of international organisations, from legal and political science perspectives. You will be involved in various programmes, mainly in the bachelor's and master's programs in political science and public administration offered in UCLouvain FUCaM Mons Campus. This includes adult continuing education and supervision of master's theses.

In your teaching, you will foster student engagement, critical thinking, and the development of applied skills, taking into account the diversity of student profiles, needs and abilities.

  • Research

You will develop your scientific activities and lead research programmes in the field of international relations, particularly on the legal, institutional, and political dynamics of international organisations. You will implement projects and (co)lead a research team on these subjects. You will develop your research within the Centre d\'Etude des Crises et des Conflits Internationaux (CECRI) while reaching out to the activities developed in other centres and research institutes at the university (such as, for example, the Centre Montesquieu d\'Etude de l\'Action publique and the Institut des Sciences Juridiques).

You will give your research an international dimension, notably through publications in leading international journals and participation in European and international scientific conferences and networks.

Your research will be rooted in political science, particularly in recent theories and debates in international relations, and will deploy a multidisciplinary approach involving the legal sciences.

You will supervise doctoral theses.

You will seek to develop the societal impact of your research at the international level, through contacts and networks within international organisations; this engagement will benefit research, training, and the university\'s international visibility.

Once tenured, you will take on various service activities and responsibilities within the university as well as management responsibilities within the faculty or research institute, such as programme lead or committee member,

You'll be helping to promote UCLouvain and UCLouvain’s FUCaM Mons campus, and your research and teaching activities will strengthen the links between the university and international organizations.

Who we’re looking for
  • Education

You have a PhD in Political and Social Sciences orin international relations, in international law, or in another field related to international organisations.

  • Experience

You have a proven track record in university teaching, backed up where possible by positive formal evaluations.

Your scientific experience is demonstrated by international publications. Having done an extended stay or significant experience abroad, outside the institution that awarded your doctorate, is an asset.

  • Skills

You are able to work as part of a teaching team and integrate research results into your teaching.

You can conduct high-level scientific research, and obtain funding to create and manage research teams.

You have team management and communication skills, including in a foreign language.

You are fluent in French and English. If this is not the case, you must undertake to acquire an active level of these two languages within two years of taking up your post. Knowledge of Dutch or other languages is an asset.

What we offer

Tenure after positive assessment of the probationary period – typically four years. This type of career entitles you to a public sector pension.

Appointment as lecturer or professor according to your previous academic experience, as determined by the Rectoral Council.

Teaching load capped at 90 hours for a full-time tenure-track position, and 150 hours once tenured.

An attractive and progressive salary according to seniority and the promotion process.

A start date of 1 September 2026 at the earliest.
