Datashift is seeking an AI Safety & Value Consultant to help clients unlock AI benefits while managing its risks. You will identify, assess and mitigate AI risks, establish governance and operating models, and drive adoption of AI at scale.

From shaping strategy with leadership to embedding practical safeguards, you will balance innovation with safety, build capabilities, and guide organisations through risk, compliance, and practical implementation in diverse sectors from Mechelen to Gent.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of consulting, strategy, or business analysis experience.
• Strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Solid understanding of AI and machine learning fundamentals, including generative AI and LLMs.
• Experience identifying and managing AI, data, technology, or compliance risks.
• Familiarity with EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and GDPR.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong plus.

Responsabilités

• Set up AI governance operating models: roles, decision rights, intake and approval flows.
• Build the AI lifecycle process from intake and risk triage through deployment, monitoring and retirement.
• Drive organisational change: onboarding stakeholders, embedding ways of working, building internal capability.

• Conduct comprehensive AI risk assessments and ethical evaluations for client systems.

We're looking for an AI Safety & Value Consultant who can help clients unlock the benefits of AI while managing its risks. You'll help organisations identify, assess and mitigate AI risks, establish the right governance and operating models, and drive the adoption of AI at scale. From shaping strategy with leadership teams to embedding practical safeguards, you'll help clients build AI capabilities that are both valuable and trustworthy. You're not a lawyer and you're not a data scientist? Good. We want a strategy minded consultant who understands how AI impacts organisations, people and processes, and can balance innovation with safety.

Your Responsibilities

Set up AI portfolio management

• Design AI governance operating models: roles, decision rights, intake and approval flows
• Build the AI lifecycle process, from intake and risk triage through deployment, monitoring and retirement
• Drive the organisational change that makes it work: onboarding stakeholders, embedding ways of working, building internal capability rather than a document nobody reads
• Set up inventories and registries so clients know what AI they run and how it performs
• Conduct comprehensive AI risk assessments and ethical evaluations for client systems

Manage risk and quality

• Design AI risk management approaches that integrate the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001 into something practical for the client
• Run AI risk assessments and guide individual use cases through classification, mitigation and sign-off
• Pressure-test solution quality: feasibility, evaluation approach, hallucination and data-leakage risks, workflow fit and vendor overclaims
• Keep clients ahead of a fast-moving regulatory and standards landscape

Your Qualifications

Required experience & skills

• 3-5 years of consulting, strategy or business analysis experience, with a track record of designing processes or governance and driving their adoption
• Strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences
• Solid understanding of AI and machine learning fundamentals, including generative AI and LLMs, enough to ask the right questions and challenge the answers
• Experience identifying and managing risk (AI, data, technology or compliance: bias, privacy, security, robustness, transparency)
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and regulation (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, GDPR)
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong plus

Desired Qualifications

• Background in data ethics, DPIAs or algorithmic impact assessments
• Experience setting up governance or management systems (risk, quality, security, privacy) at scale
• Relevant certifications (e.g. ISO/IEC 42001, AIGP, risk or privacy)
• Familiarity with AI evaluation, monitoring and documentation practices (model cards, datasheets)
• Sector experience in financial services, pharma/life sciences or the public sector
