Sander, a leading Belgian pension funds and Employee Benefits specialist, seeks an experienced Actuary to manage a portfolio of pension fund and corporate clients in Brussels. You will combine technical actuarial expertise with client advisory, owning project delivery and ensuring regulatory alignment.

You will lead valuations, reporting and funding discussions, shape strategy on ALM and pension design, and translate complex analyses into practical client recommendations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Actuarial Science or related quantitative field.
• 6–10 years of relevant experience in pensions, Employee Benefits or actuarial consulting.
• Fluent in Dutch and good knowledge of French.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Actuary Pension Funds & Employee Benefits | The role:

As an Actuary Pension Funds & Employee Benefits, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of clients, primarily composed of pension funds and large corporate organizations.

You will act as a trusted actuarial advisor and business owner for your clients, combining strong technical expertise with a clear understanding of their financial, strategic and regulatory challenges.

The role offers broad exposure to pension fund management, Employee Benefits, funding strategies, ALM, accounting and regulatory developments, while allowing you to take ownership of client relationships and complex actuarial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the business owner for a portfolio of pension fund and corporate clients.
• Manage the actuarial aspects of pension funds, including actuarial valuations, reporting, funding monitoring and actuarial advice.
• Perform actuarial calculations and analyses relating to pension schemes and Employee Benefits.
• Prepare IFRS/IAS calculations and reports.
• Assess the impact of changes to pension schemes and specific client situations.
• Ensure accurate and clear documentation of actuarial processes and methodologies.

Pension & Strategic Advisory

• Advise clients on funding plans, SIPs, ALM, continuity testing and reinsurance.
• Support the design and implementation of new pension schemes and changes to existing pension plans.
• Advise clients on the impact of new pension legislation and FSMA circulars.
• Contribute to complex projects involving M&A, the Belgian 80% rule, single status and other regulatory or strategic developments.
• Translate complex actuarial analyses into clear and practical recommendations for clients.

Client Relationship Management

• Act as a trusted point of contact for your portfolio of clients.
• Develop long-term relationships based on expertise, reliability and a strong client focus.
• Understand the specific needs and challenges of each client and adapt your advice accordingly.
• Present actuarial analyses and recommendations in a clear and structured manner.
• Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery of projects.
• Provide a critical and analytical review of actuarial processes and methodologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of internal processes.
• Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices.
• Share your expertise and collaborate with colleagues from different departments.
• Participate in projects aimed at continuously improving the organization's actuarial services.

Actuary Pension Funds & Employee Benefits | The profile:

• You hold a Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent quantitative field.
• You have 6 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, ideally within pension funds, Employee Benefits, actuarial consulting, Life insurance or a similar environment.
• You have a strong understanding of Belgian pension schemes and actuarial principles.
• You have experience with topics such as IFRS/IAS, funding, ALM, pension plan design and regulatory developments.
• You have a strong analytical and critical mindset and are comfortable working with complex actuarial topics.
• You are able to communicate complex ideas in a clear and structured manner, both verbally and in writing.
• You have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with colleagues across different departments.
• You have a strong sense of responsibility and are capable of working autonomously, while effectively organizing priorities and managing several projects.
• You are naturally client-oriented and able to establish relationships of trust with professional clients.
• You are a collaborative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive team environment.
• You are fluent in Dutch and have a good professional knowledge of French.
