Job summary

IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, seeks a 3D Interconnects R&D Project Leader to guide a multidisciplinary team from concept through validation for advanced 3D interconnect devices. You will align with FAB managers, resource planning and external customers to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

You will lead technically and operationally, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while managing showstoppers and escalation when needed.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in microelectronics, electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of semiconductor experience (Process, Integration, Device, Reliability, or Design).
• Experience with Compute technologies (Logic, 3D, Nano-interconnect) is a must.
• 3D interconnect knowledge and integration flows is an asset.
• Industrial experience as an R&D project manager or team leader is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team technically and operationally to develop devices for 3D interconnect applications from design to validation.
• Coordinate with external customers and IMEC R&D strategy to demonstrate and validate technology.
• Monitor resources and performance, manage changes, and escalate issues with proposed solutions.
• Regularly report to the project customer and maintain a strong link with their team.

3D Interconnects R&D Project Leader

What you will do

• As a 3D Interconnects project leader, you will be leading the team to develop innovative devices for 3D interconnect applications, from the design phase until the device validation. Your goal will be to demonstrate the technology in agreement with the external customer and IMEC’s R&D strategy. You will align with the expert teams, resource, and FAB managers to best define and implement your plan.
• You will be responsible for leading the team technically and operationally, promoting interactions and innovations. Your open communication, enthusiasm and drive will be key to create a strong team and reach your goals.
• Together with the operational managers, you will monitor the performance and resources of your project and ensure to stay within agreed boundaries. You will proactively manage changes, drive the acceleration of your project activities when necessary, elevate showstoppers or issues within the organization and to the customer, and help provide solutions.
• Interacting with the project customer will be an important part of your activities. From project definition until project closure, you will be the main contact. You will regularly report to the customer team, help keep a strong link with them and answer their specific requests. Your ability to receive, assess and respond efficiently to their technical proposals will be key.
• Drive continuous improvement in project quality and learning speed. Bring forward new ideas and actively participate in their implementation.

Who you are

• You have a PhD degree or MSc in microelectronics, electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, material science, or a closely related discipline
• Minimum 5-year experience in the semiconductor field (Process, Integration, Device, Reliability and/or Design)
• Experience and knowledge of integration flows related to Compute technologies (Logic, 3D, Nano-interconnect) is a must.
• In depth knowledge about 3D interconnect technology and integration flows is an asset;
• Prior industrial experience as an R&D project manager, program manager, or team leader is a significant advantage.
• Strong customer orientation and ability to build lasting relationships.
