Job summary

Taldumande Youth Services invites applications for a casual Youth Worker to join the Beach Reach program on Friday and Saturday evenings on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. You’ll work with another Outreach Worker to drive the Beach Reach van, engage vulnerable youth in public spaces, and build trust in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

The role focuses on after-hours outreach, safe engagement, and collaboration with local police and services to connect youth with appropriate support.

Qualifications

For over 50 years, Taldumande Youth Services has been a pillar of safety, stability, and hope for vulnerable young people across NSW.

We are looking for a confident, practical, and resilient Youth Worker to join our assertive Beach Reach program on a casual basis. Operating across Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this after-hours program meets young people where they naturally gather—providing calm, respectful support when they need it most.

• Shifts: Friday and Saturday evenings (approx. 5:00 PM to late).
• The Role: Partnering alongside another Outreach Worker, you’ll drive the Beach Reach van, navigate local hotspots, liaise with police, build instant rapport, and act as a steady, positive presence.

The Role Snapshot

• Type: Casual (Minimum commitment of 1 shift per week on either Friday or Saturday).

About You

• You stay grounded under pressure and can effortlessly engage young people in public spaces to build trust quickly.
• Bring around 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in youth work, youth justice, community services, casework, or a related field.
• Skilled in supporting vulnerable youth with complex needs and deeply understanding the challenges tied to the youth justice system.
• You connect easily and respectfully with young people, their families, and wider support networks.
• Minimum tertiary qualification of a Certificate IV in youth work or a related discipline (community services, teaching or mentoring)
• Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence (and access to an insured vehicle).
• Current paid Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate (or a willingness to obtain them before starting).
• Willingness to complete a National Police Clearance Check.
• Proven strengths in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and de-escalation.
