Job summary

Community Resources in Worimi Country, NSW, is seeking a Youth Worker and Playgroup Support Officer to engage with young people, families and communities. The role blends youth work with playgroup delivery and requires strong relationships, referrals and advocacy.

You will work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, hold relevant qualifications, and contribute to culturally safe practice while supporting education, health and family services.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher in Community Services, Youth Work, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or related field.
• Experience in youth work, case management or family support services.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, or commitment to culturally safe practice.

Our Homebase Youth Services (HYS) team works alongside young people, children and families to create positive outcomes and stronger futures. We're seeking a passionate and community-minded Youth Worker & Playgroup Support Officer to join our team on beautiful Worimi Country in Tuncurry, NSW.

This unique role combines youth work with supporting our much-loved community playgroup program, creating opportunities to engage with children, young people and families across all stages of early intervention and support.

About the Role

No two days are the same. In this role, you'll work directly with young people and families while also supporting the delivery and growth of our community playgroup program.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building genuine, respectful relationships with young people, children and families.
• Providing case management, advocacy, information and referrals where required.
• Supporting young people to access education, employment, health and community services.
• Assisting with the coordination, promotion and delivery of our community playgroup program.
• Creating welcoming and engaging environments for children, parents and carers participating in playgroup activities.
• Building strong partnerships with local services, schools, community organisations and stakeholders.
• Promoting positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and families.
• Attending community events, meetings and activities to identify emerging needs and opportunities.
• Maintaining accurate case notes, reports and program records.

About You

You'll be someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and is passionate about supporting young people, children and families to achieve their goals.

You'll bring:

• Willing to obtain or already hold a Certificate IV or higher qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in youth work, case management or family support services.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, or a strong commitment to culturally safe practice.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience facilitating group activities, community programs or family-focused initiatives.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
• Sound administration and record-keeping skills.
• Understanding of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting obligations.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check.
• Current National Police Check.
• Current Driver Licence.
